Chanel Antilope Le Vernis
March 29th, 2008 by kpriss
Yesterday I found this new nail polish “review” on a blog and haunted me until today so here it is: Chanel Le Vernis Antilope.
Having to spend almost $20 for a nail polish, one should know what’s in for the money, besides a weird name for beauty products. So normally you look for a picture, something closest to reality showing just the right shade so you’d know what’s in it for you, then, if it catches you, fill in the buying form. Or, by all means, step out and buy it.
That’s the way I’d do it, that’s the path I normally take when dealing with a new product. Seems like I’m an endangered species, for some people act following a completely different pattern: if a renowned brand launches a collection, it’s at least the stroke of a genius and the products are at least the best ever.
Such is the case for this Chanel Antilope vernis a ongles carrying a name considered hardly in the ordinary for a nail polish (I’m a fan of OPI and their nail lacquer names like “I’m India Mood for Love” or “Get Me To The Taj On Time” don’t surprise me anymore).
Ok, admitting Antilope is not really clear as a sunshine, let’s go further (noo, that doesn’t mean let’s go buy it and see what’s it like!) – the shade looks rather ordinary? Regardless of the wardrobe coordination and season matching, if it’s Chanel, and even Chanel LE (Limited Edition) there’s gotta be more than what meets the eye, right? Maybe something in the bottle… Buy the nail polish, put it on and amaze everyone with it!
I looked at it again and again and the reaction was just raising eyebrows and wondering what have I done with my aesthetic sense and where it ran hiding when seeing this wonderful Antilope that no, it doesn’t remind me of anything in particular (besides the truly endangered species of Antilope struggling for survival) and surely can’t find a match for that shade more than, maybe, with greatest indulgence, front door wood. So in case I’ll be needing it to patch scratches, no, I wouldn’t pay $20 to buy it!
Tell me, do you find beautyblogosphere objective? Helpful?
Tattoo your Teeth
March 29th, 2008 by kpriss
Would you? Wear a tattoo on your teeth? Given that skin tattoos are really getting uninteresting, tattoo artists expand their business.
Truth is, I value my own teeth so much, I couldn’t ever give in to such idea as a tooth tattoo. But maybe there are some of you, out there, who see this kind of “art” manifestation as appealing. Do you? And if you’d get a teeth tattoo, what would it be? (besides Chanel and Louis Vuitton, please!)

Stylish Socks for Sandals
March 28th, 2008 by kpriss
Not too long ago, I asked you if you could wear socks with sandals. Now I came across the kind of socks I’d wear with sandals and of course I’m presenting them to you.
They’re from “La Perla”, a lingerie brand (and prêt-à-porter) that I used to love few years back. Now I admit I haven’t been following their collections lately (and their latest advertising face – Diana Dondoe – I don’t like her one bit!), however, these socks were exactly what I had in mind when talking matching summer shoes and socks. I wouldn’t set for just white, I’d like them to be colored too (unfortunately, Perla doesn’t offer more then black).
What do you say ? Still reluctant to socks and sandals/open toes?

Kurt Cobain Converse – Grunge is Back?
March 28th, 2008 by kpriss
Few years ago, when the skinny – converse madness started, I was proud of my beautiful red one stars.
Now I don’t sport that look anymore or else people will see me when taking my kids in the park and take me as their older sister, since all adolescents are uniforming converse-skinny outfits. However, Converse will always be wearable, even if I momentarily discard them. This time they’ve got an anniversary to celebrate – their 100th, this summer. And the (not anymore) surprise was a collection of sneakers with scribbling from Kurt Cobain’s journals. Or at least that’s what we’re told. Inscriptions like “Punk Rock Means Freedom” will carry our young (and not only) steps through the day for a better living.

Kate Moss – The Book
March 28th, 2008 by kpriss
… and I imagine, shortly, the movie…Paris libraries were invaded by a high profile book – the (unauthorized) biography of Kate Moss.
Collecting words of wisdom and anecdotes from those close to La Moss, Françoise-Marie Santucci was able to cook up 300 pages of unofficial biopic without even having an interview with Kate herself.
However, this is not surprising, giving how she’s not making any public statements. (if we’re to believe rumors, this “enigmatic” Kate wears Johnny Depp’s signature because it was him telling her to stop giving interviews so she’ll construct an aura around her. Too bad he didn’t told her to stay out of crack and booze too).
So? Who’d be in line for the main part in the film?

Friday Break – Singing in the Rain with Gene Kelly
March 28th, 2008 by kpriss
How about some vintage this Friday Break? I can’t invite you to lay back and enjoy, I’ll just push you to smile and do a little dance with the music high up!
There’s nothing more invigorating then having a little la-la-la and a little moving around to change a harsh day’s work into “glorious feeling”! Posting this clip is not a pretext for a history lesson or a walk down the memory lane, it’s just a Friday (or any day) break. Please feel free to use the lyrics I posted just after the film so your la-la-la gets a bit of contour…”with a happy refrain”!
Madonna Takes Cover for Vanity Fair May 2008 Issue
March 27th, 2008 by kpriss
We all love a little marketing from time to time, right? One magazine at a time, Madonna’s gracing us with yet another posing.
Vanity Fair’s Green Issue cover for May is grey. White writing. Bathing suit fierce looking Madonna with, yes, the same type of boots as for those others magazines (at least she ditched the boxing theme for vanity’s sake). I know it must be hard for an artist to promote a new album, but isn’t she going too far now? We all got the message – she’s having a new album, now it would be wise to back up a little on the photoshop teasing so we won’t grow tired of it already, before it actually hits stores. But that’s just me. Maybe you feel really impressed by her invading more and more magazine space and that actually makes you more curious about the album?

Takashi Murakami Collections for Louis Vuitton
March 27th, 2008 by kpriss
In searching for news about these days controversial Marc Jacobs monogramouflage and hoping to get an idea about it, I found a clip of the advertising campaign for Superflat Monogram by Takashi Murakami for Marc Jacobs (ahem.. Louis Vuitton).
Crocheting away on Alice in Wonderland Theme, this clip is a manga dream, in ways that only a psychedelic Japanese cartoon could do it.
