I-D Natasha Poly In October 2008
September 10th, 2008 by kpriss
I-D Magazine features Natasha Poly for the October issue. Photographed by Emma Summerton, Natasha looks eastern European lovely.
The heavy jewelry and the pastel shades got her mix into another level of fall fashion. From gipsy to preppy, I can see almost any back from vacation, still wearing the sun in the heart trend. I’m still undecided about the Louis Vuitton shoes, but I guess if everyone’s courting them in photo shoots they must have some value. To me they look unbalanced and unfair to the foot’s beauty and a shoe’s elegance and grace. Shortly – to me they look rough. Like this Poly October I-D? Anne Hathaway W Magazine October 2008
September 10th, 2008 by kpriss
Anne Hathaway graces the cover of W magazine for this October. Photographed by Mario Sorrenti, she manages a great cover pose and no less for the pictorial inside, a styling that could dignify Queen Amidala herself.
There’s also an interview coming with the pictures. An interview where Annie talks about her life, herself and others. About her recent media madness came upon her personal life (her four-years boyfriend has been arrested on scam charges, facing lifetime in jail) and about her insolent and ignorant ways with people. She’s a committed actress who found herself in others who helped her. The interview is set to bring out the sadness and melancholy in Anne Hathaway’s current life. Like everyone’s supposed to give her a hand or a shoulder to lean on. The photos are very fashion, erasing the border between shallow and art, with a tragic beauty. Do you fancy Anne’s W pictorial?

Alexa Chung Does UK Elle October 2008
September 10th, 2008 by kpriss
Alexa Chung makes a glorious young style icon for the British and not only. Elle UK covers Alexa with the flattering “London loves you”.
Too bad she’s looking stiff and slightly inexpressive. For the tons of declarative love from this Elle UK, this pictorial is cold as ice, strangely reminding me of Victoria Beckham. I could easily see her doing a James Bond or some other cold blooded thriller where she could be the main bad character. Or it’s just my imagination running wild? Either way, Alexa Chung’s flawless look will keep her in the spotlight for a longtime, fashion related or not. Wouldn’t you think? (there’s also a behind the scene clip right after the jump)

Emma Watson In Chanel At National Movie Awards
September 9th, 2008 by kpriss
UPDATE: Alexander McQueen sadly is no longer among us, read more here.
Couldn’t she stick with the Burberry frocks? At least they were somehow far more fitting than this Chanel Alexander McQueen (see update, right after the picture) fairy-dairy dress.
Her stature isn’t really flattered by this gown, not to mention it seems she had an outfit malfunction when one of the straps just gave up standing and fell uncovering Emma. Of course nobody will bring to attention her straight-A month and her upcoming Cambridge studies when something like that comes up. Well, miss Granger.. ahem, miss Watson, keep your Chanel Alexander McQueen on!(see update, right after the picture) Do you like her dress? It fits her? (no matter the dress, you have to agree that the shoes aren’t supposed to be worn on the Red Carpet! They look so cheap!)
UPDATE: When it comes to sources, one should always rely on himself. Or on others who really can help. Such is the case with our commentator, Fashion Critic who promptly cleared the Chanel mess. The white dress worn by Emma Watson at the National Movie Awards is signed by Alexander McQueen and part of his Fall 2008 Ready to Wear Collection. Thank you!

Victoria Beckham’s New Short Haircut
September 9th, 2008 by kpriss
I can’t decide what was more interesting – the Marc Jacobs show or the short crop on Victoria Beckham from the front row of Marc Jacobs Spring Summer 2009.
People who actually saw her there said it looked awful, like an old lady sent her oh-too-many cats to work on Posh while she was asleep. People (like me) on this side of the screen look at the crop on every side and can’t decide whether it’s worth the time of looking and writing about it. Some even went too far by comparing her with Liz Taylor and even Audrey Hepburn. Preposterous! The poor girl is either commissioned to make Marc Jacob’s collection pass on second place, or she’s looking for attention, as always. What would this new haircut be on little miss orange ahem.. Victoria?
UPDATE: Here’s a new sighting allowing a better view on Victoria Beckham’s new short crop (Ellington, thanks for the tip!)

Keira Knightley Flat Grey Dress The Duchess Premiere Toronto
September 9th, 2008 by kpriss
This doesn’t even dignify as a fashion disaster. It’s a silhouette disaster. How does anyone choose its outfits? Function to what it’s fitting and flattering for its constitution, right?
Well, in case that changed and fashion flatters skeletons and ironing tables, here goes Keira for the Toronto premiere of the Duchess. Critics welcomed her movie without hiding their lack of enthusiasm because she’s too thin and she’s supposed to impersonate an 18th century beauty, generous hourglass silhouette and she seems to not be touched by all this.
She chose this Marc Jacobs gown accessorizing it with earrings in her hair. And we’re supposed to be pleased with her choice. Well, my eyes hurt like I’ve been hitting a wall. That flat she looks! Why couldn’t we see more good examples on the Red Carpet? Why must we all hail the skeletrons?
Dita Von Teese Pictorial From Harper’s Bazaar October 2008
September 9th, 2008 by kpriss
And here I was, thinking that the October UK Harper’s Bazaar couldn’t get more glamour than Liv Tyler.
I was wrong! The issue features Dita von Teese, the burlesque girl par excellence in a retro glamourous pictorial like the woman herself. It’s about the Little Black Dress and a saying from Francoise Sagan: “A dress makes no sense unless it inspires men to want to take it off you.” It could be the perfect excuse for her line of work, but also the tagline of being sensuous and dressed to impress. She must know, by know, how she strikes a flawless pose and thus I don’t have many things to say about her pictorial. Except that she’s looking every inch the image she created of herself. Who is Heather Renée Sweet, the woman behind Dita von Teese?
Marc Jacobs Spring Summer 2009 Collection
September 9th, 2008 by kpriss
Marc Jacobs Spring Summer 2009 Collection. Needles to say it all was a mix’n’match, something never seen before. Layer under layer, under yet another layer that covers another layer of fabric. And it’s not a soft toned mix’n’match! It’s all printed and metallic.
It’s a Mary Poppins feeling in all that which can’t be overlooked. With Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue in background, I get a sci-fi feeling from this catwalk. And not necessarily in a bad way. He didn’t invent the spoon for spring summer 2009, but Marc Jacobs mixed with a frenzy that made me think he was blindfolded when he draw the sketches for half of the spring-summer 2009 collection. What is your feeling when looking at this Marc Jacobs collection? (I pulled off some of the looks I found deliciously mixed, but you can watch the entire show after the jump)
