W’s magazine version of a controversial pictorial brings an artist in the spotlight: Maurizio Cattelan. As opposed to the bad-taste controversy offered by Vogue Paris with Lara Stone, Maurizio Cattelan portrays sweaty armpits and religious matters on glossy fashion magazine paper reality.

It is of no little knowing that Karl Lagerfeld nor he likes children or wishes any. It is also of very notorious acknowledgement that Karl made an unhealthy obsession with Lara Stone, the above-the-average-skinny-model!

What was relevantly hard to guess was Karl’s adversity for motherhood! Since he’s locked up in that ivory fashion tower of his, I’m sure he hasn’t the time to observe and learn a mother’s daily routine, hence allowing his mental distorted picture of

“fat mothers with their bags of chips sitting in front of the television and saying that thin models are ugly, […] No one wants to see curvy women”

You know what they say, Karl, put yourself in the other one’s shoes! I’m lucky if I get to sit at the end of the day, mostly I just collapse and instantly fall asleep. Food, in a mother’s stomach usually translates with eating your children leftovers! That is if there’s any! Fashion really twisted your mind, Karl! The Blogosphere is growing more and more influential! It has boldly gone where no one has gone before and took on the Sartorialist’s photographical manners by issuing a chart you’re to follow a lettre to get your picture snapped by Scott Schuman!

Now the Sartorialist Strikes Back with a Times interview (freely translating that into How To Get On The Sartorialist: Critical Update!)

What is your favourite place/time of year to shoot?
Florence in January during Pitti Uomo [the men’s trade show]: it draws chic men from all around the world, becoming a cornucopia of styles, price points and tastes.

What makes you want to take someone’s photo?
I try to stay open to the moment. I’m usually just reacting to what I see, and don’t know what I like “best” about someone’s style until I sit down to view the photographs later. I’m always looking to be surprised or to see something familiar in a new way: it could be about colour or proportion or just a person’s posture.

What is your one piece of fashion advice?
Dress for your lifestyle. Even though I love suits and the craftsmanship that goes into them, I don’t wear them much because I’m always out shooting in the streets.

You know those days I was telling you there’s not a tote big enough for a mother’s needs? That’s what I was complaining about! Carry-on toys!

There’s no manual about that, when you’re having your amazing little baby, the nurses don’t give you the warning notice where you explicitly read the proportions your bags will have to have from that moment on! Nope, nothing like that! You have to find out about that on your own! You’ll have to keep a friendly face on while carrying your tots and your humongous totes around all day long! This is “The Imagination Issue” so it makes perfect sense to have Lily as cover girl since she’ll surely take the world by storm with “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus“! If you know your way through artistic photo manipulation, you can even take your own picture and after-effect-it like this. Though I doubt we’d ever be as crafty as Jo Ratcliffe here!
