Julia Stegner In Gareth Pugh Does Mercedes Benz SLS AMG By Nigk Knight Ads
January 7th, 2010 by kpriss
We knew this was happening, we just had no idea how far they’ll be willing to get: Julia Stegner does a comic-book-like appearance in the last Mercedes ad campaign.
Photographed by Nick Knight and dressed to the aces by Gareth Pugh, Julia looks lovely (on the Gaga’s scale of style) and the Mercedes SLS AMG behind her steals the fierceness of the entire show. Maybe that was the point and if so, then they’ve got it all right, the fashion crowd only serving as an accessory/embellishment of the actual campaign product. Looking at this ad (to see the rest of the images click here and don’t miss the behind the scenes video right after the jump!), would you (if you could, of course) buy the new Mercedes SLS AMG? (via)

Something Old, Something New! Reknit It!
January 7th, 2010 by kpriss
Recknit It sounds like a perfectly cozy answer to the throwing away démodé clothes and throwing away money for high fashion ones equation!
It’s an eco-fash-initiative allowing you to transform an old item into a new one by reknitting the old one. Under the friendly and warm title: This Month, My Mom Will Turn Your Old *something* into a new *something*, fashion that has turned so much into a business these days is turned back into something traditional and familiar, close to each and every one of us. Wouldn’t you want someone you love to reknit your old sweater into a warm, new scarf? (via)
Dakota Fanning, Gabourey Sidibe Cover V Magazine’s Size Issue, January 2010
January 7th, 2010 by kpriss
With such an ambitious purpose in mind, the print has to be spectacular. So V Magazine’s editors brought in the uber famous photographers and the uber curviest models. And then put them all together, side by side, page by page, size by size.
Who even cares about the cover? V #63, the January-February 2010 issue, has a double cover: Dakota Fanning and Gabourey Sidibe, both in black and white but what’s really interesting is on the inside! (the story continues right after the jump with more images. Don’t miss the gallery with images from V #63 pictorials and the behind the scenes video!)
H & M Cuts And Throws Perfectly New Clothing!
January 7th, 2010 by kpriss
Whenever I talk about fast fashion brands like H & M, I never take it quite literally. But I should!
Because fast fashion brands and fast food chains they tend to have the same policies: at the end of the day/season, unsold clothes are thrown out, considered garbage. They also have someone whose job implies holes making: before throwing out those perfectly wearable, squeaky new clothes, holes are made in almost every single article of clothing. Then it gets tossed out the back. What a saddening waste! I do hope the word will spread really fast and measures will be taken so those clothes will be used for higher purposes than filling up the garbage bins and fueling the black market! (via)
UPDATE: It seems H & M got word of the buzz created after Times wrote the above mentioned article and they promised they won’t repeat the unhappy cut&throw away isolated event ever again as it’s not even a common practice for the label. However, former H & M employees said the declaration was a lie through and trough, destroying unsold clothing being done chez H & M for years, systematically (also Wal-Mart and other significant fast fashion labels). While readers with a heart and conscience allover the world swear on boycotting H & M, the future will prove us if they will really succeed. (thanks, Adriana!)
Jennifer Lopez Does Elle US February 2010
January 6th, 2010 by kpriss
Jennifer Lopez is back with a new album. So up she goes, promoting it: Elle US February 2010 happens to be one of the first steps.
Looking curvy and excessively photoshopped like always, Jenny from the Block tries to convince us that she’s brand new, reinvented and purified. Too bad the only fresh vibe I’m getting is from the brand new clothes. Remarquez please, right after the jump, how that gray Gucci airbrush retouched every physical trait and texture on Jennifer Lopez! (Elle via TFS)

Now if we’re to judge by the commercial, the Dolce & Gabbana Jalou is an alien sorority affair. Have one and you’ll have a very stylish mugshot! Promis! (via)

Natalia Vodianova’s Vogue UK February 2010
January 6th, 2010 by kpriss
To tell you the truth, I missed Natalia Vodianova. At one point she was everywhere, in every magazine, everyone was telling her Cinderella story. But then Lara Stone happened to the fashion population.
Suffering from a serious case of Lara Stone-exhaustion, I fully embrace Nick Night’s Vogue UK shoot with Natalia Vodianova! (the story continues with more images right after the jump!)
