Marilyn Monroe’s Giant Statue
July 19th, 2011 by kpriss
If you happen to pass through Chicago, do not miss Marilyn Monroe’s giant statue! It’s a special art installation meant to honor Marilyn’s memory. Or so I think.
It would be really difficult to think of Marilyn and overlook this iconic scene from “The Seven Year Itch”. Even the dress she wore back then set an auction record, so I’m not that surprised to see her posing like this in the middle of Chicago. What? Rome has the Pieta, Chicago has upskirt Marilyn! To each its own! (via)
Sandals Skates. Vintage Must Have This Summer
July 19th, 2011 by kpriss
You know what’s fashionable this year in terms of footwear? Flatforms. Never heard of that before? Flatforms = flats + platforms. Which basically means that the flatforms are a pair of flat soled mix of wedges and platforms (you saw those parading around in the Spring Summer 2011 Prada collection).
With the new fancy going on around pop out skate sneakers, I see no reason for these skates sandals not being mass produced (anymore). The ones below are a vintage find which seem to be available (still) for $85. Would you be interested in owning a pair if they’d be available in stores everywhere, next to the skate sneakers? (via)
Saoirse Ronan’s Amazing Pictorial, Bullet Magazine
July 19th, 2011 by kpriss
Have you seen Hanna? It’s a good movie, you should try and watch it sometime. (if I’ll tell you that Cate Blanchett is in it, maybe it’ll convince you.)
Saoirse Ronan is Hanna. In the movie. However, this pictorial, from Bullet Magazine, is truly amazing and I absolutely wanted you to see it. I know it features a celebrity, by Hollywood standards, and even so, you should give it a chance, it’s really beautiful. I wish I could say more of that about standard fashion magazines pictorials!(Bullet via)
Stunning Beauty: Josilyn Williams
July 19th, 2011 by kpriss
It’s been a while since my last Freshface. However, I could not have continued the day without introducing you to the truly gorgeous Josilyn.
She’s the new Black Beauty in town and I keep my fingers crossed for her to conquer the catwalks and the magazines for she truly is special. Below some pictures of her by as shown in her portfolio. She currently runs with DNA. Isn’t she something? (DNA via)
Lily Allen’s Lucy In Disguise Is In Trouble
July 19th, 2011 by kpriss
Although she is a true media darling, Lily Allen’s foray into the fashion business doesn’t look too good. Just months after opening a Lucy In Disguise store (in Covent Garden), Lily and her sister, Sarah were forced to close the boutique and move forward with a pop up shop (in Carnaby Street).
Does this mean it’s the end of Lucy in Disguise? Does this mean that Lily Allen has lost her fashion appeal? (why is everybody convinced that they can do fashion over night?) (photo via)
Sharon Stone’s Casual Look: T Shirt And Leggings
July 19th, 2011 by kpriss
Leggings are not pants is decidedly something that doesn’t describe Sharon Stone’s wardrobe. The gorgeous actress was recently seen out and about (allegedly heading over to the cinema to see Harry Potter with her son, also pictured) wearing a deeply rock’n’roll getup.
Her black leggings were paired with a John and Yoko T-shirt, deep black oversized sunglasses and black flat sandals with golden accents (from Sigerson Morrison). We do not see much of her bag (of which she said it’s a Cavalli), however, it’s safe to say that Sharon Stone’s casual style doesn’t look much different from ours, does it?
Feathers – The New Beauty Must
July 18th, 2011 by kpriss
This is the next step of the feathered trend. After feathers in your hair and feathers as earrings or necklaces, now we have the chance to feather up even more. Feathered eyebrows!
I know it’s a theatrical look and maybe not suitable for everyday wear (what am I saying “maybe”! It’s entirely not suited for everyday wear), however, is’a fairytale feathered beauty look as modeled by Natasha Poly and created by Lloyd Simmonds with Yves Saint Laurent beauty products (New Black no 32, Noir Abysse, Noir Jade), YSL Mascara and Rouge Volupte Sheer Candy Coco Givree YSL). Would you wear it? For what occasion? (via)
Fur Collars In For Fall
July 18th, 2011 by kpriss
I saw this picture and thought it was one of the fashion’s funny faces. Couldn’t miss the opportunity to talk about it with you all.
So it would appear fur collars are in for fall. It’s not new, it’s just an observation. It’s also up to you whether you’ll opt for real or synthetic fur. However, when you’ll wear your furry coat, don’t forget your most stylish pose has to be: my pout is bigger than yours, my pout is more fashionable than yours. I pout in the sun. I pout at the sun, I pout, Therefore I am! (photo via)
