Galliano Was At Kate Moss’ Wedding!

Although he didn’t really appear in official reports, John Galliano, who was Kate Moss’ wedding dress designer, was actually at her wedding too!

Undoubtedly applauded by everyone, Kate’s vintage-y dress was carefully designed and executed by John Galliano (with a little help from specialized seamstresses). Little was said about the designer himself, who, as shown below, was there to oversee his work! Isn’t he something?

I’ll keep this short, even if it’s really hard to reduce to a minimum a story about Prada. I sometimes get the feeling that the giants of fashion get to fight for who owns the trends. (who are the giants? Louis Vuitton / Marc Jacobs and Prada / Miu Miu, biensur!) The Fashimmortals! In the end, there can be only one! Ta daaaaam!

Yeah, short, I was saying – have you seen Prada’s Fall Winter 2011 2012 sunglasses? You did? Well, here’s the campaign too! How do you (really) feel about them?

I wish I could’ve had a bigger picture to sustain this story! Oh well! – sigh – As you may remember, few days ago (a week and a day ago, actually, so Happy 1st week anniversary already!), designer Michael Kors and his boyfriend, Lance Le Pere, were joined together in matrimony!

As we cannot really admire the wedding gown (wink), let’s, at least, admire the wedding band! Michael Kors’ wedding ring’s image has been released for everyone to enjoy the simplicity and beauty of its design! Signed by Janis Savitt (apparently a favorite designer for all things matrimony), the platinum band is set with diamonds coming from the two happy newlyweds families! Awww!

It’s amazing how much class and charm this lady has! Christy Turlington is simply breathtakingly beautiful and elegant, so it feels natural to have Christy fronting such a special campaign!

When do you know your actions can be described as crossing some kind of line? When you’d be spending a whopping $1,500 on a spotted Teddy Bear bag!

This Marc Jacobs Spotted Teddies shearling bag has me all worried about the fascinated fashionistas who’ll be spending such an outrageous amount of money for such an easily diy thing! We’ve seen some pretty improbable diy things going on, so I don’t see any reason for this bag not to join the do it yourself arena.

Getting back to the said bag – is it just me, or it really looks ridiculous with a four figures price tag?

You’ve heard it – rumors are flying de droite a gauche and back about LVMH wanting to renew Marc Jacobs only for Dior, not Louis Vuitton anymore. Words about various designers being targeted for Christian Dior’s design crown only ended up in smoke as Marc Jacobs is the most serious candidate for the job.

And not necessarily because he would have wanted it to (or maybe he did?), but because Bernard Arnault desperately needs someone to take over the design bureau so unexpectedly vacant following the unwanted, uncalled for drunk offensive declarations made by John Galliano. In the same time, negotiations are being conducted to bring Phoebe Philo (from Celine) to Louis Vuitton, to take over from Marc Jacobs, in case they will convince him to do Dior. Do you think he suits the Dior aesthetics? Will he accept the job?

Have you heard about the Phantom Jeans? No, it’s not something otherworldly, it’s a pair of jeans. The thing is, with denim, nowadays, you can’t just wear any denim. If you want to be the hype of the hype, the peak of the style, the crème of the fashionistas, you’ll have to wear premium denim.

What’s that, you say? Well, it’s like any other denim, only ten times more expensive! No, seriously, the premium denim defines itself primarily by being manufactured in the US. With that in mind, the three figures price tag suddenly becomes more understandable. Premium denim is also somewhat less industrialized than normal jeanswear and produced in smaller quantities than the latter. Now even when it comes to premium denim, trends are trends and some premiums are just… more premiums than others!

Take for instance the new season’s menace: The Phantom. As signed by True Religion Jeans, the Phantom draws its name from the branding of the actual jean more than anything else. Meaning that you won’t see the heavily embellished back pockets you’re used to seeing in True Religion jeans. The logo is almost invisible on these ones, currently adhering to the no – logo policy in fashion. What will you have to pay for an almost non – logo-ed pair of jeans? Somewhere between $295 and $400! Pretty premium, huh?

It’s the year of big weddings and the Royal Wedding only set the tone for what came after (it would appear that there’s the model Kim Kardashian followed when it came to her own wedding).

After watching videos from Kim’s wedding, I started asking myself if the rule of not wearing white to a wedding is gone out the window, or if it’s just an artistic artifice Kim took advantage of since it was a black & white themed wedding. The bride, Kim Kardashian, wore a white Vera Wang dress (followed by other two, also Vera Wang, dresses throughout the night) and the groom, Kris Humphries also had a white tux on. Then everyone else, close to the bride, was wearing white, and the participants were either dressed in white or black! Is it just me, or Kate Moss’ s wedding was way sweeter? I don’t know, I just liked it more, I guess…
