Givenchy’s Haute Couture perspective over the 2009 Summer is a pretty somber yet pure one.
Ricardo Tisci’s 29 models are so bride-ish and pharaoh-ish, I could literally freeze just by looking at it! Even if this Givenchy Summer 2009 is directly inspired from Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema’s art (more exactly The Roses of Heliogabalus painting from 1888), I still have the chills on my spine. (don’t miss the entire collection right after the jump)
The bandages found underneath the crushing majority of dresses made me think (Herve Leger for one and for two: ) about the restrains and the severe nature of priestesses, eternally pure gods brides. What’s Givenchy’s Tisci making you think of with this new Haute Couture Spring 2009 collection? (via style.com)

Tamara De Lampeka ‘s paintings, that is what this collection makes me think of.
I loved Jean Paul Gaultier’s collection the most. Maybe because of some sentiments about the 80’s when I thought the whole world was going to be my playground?
Lovely collection, I agree.
