When marketing delivers a model you can identify with, you slowly morph into a loyal customer, just because you want a piece of that happy ‘model’ feeling. I was looking for some shopping inspiration and I came across an important piece of news: Ines de la Fressange released a collection with Uniqlo.
The towering queen of French Casual Chic is launching an affordable line through a fast fashion store – what’s not to like? But just days before, yet another iconic personality was announced to partner up with Uniqlo: the new King of Happy, Pharrell!
While Pharrell Williams, whose fashion-forward graphic tees collection is called ‘I Am Other’ still builds up the fashion tension prior to its April 2014 release, Uniqlo’s Ines line is already in store. And online. Jackets, dresses, t-shirts, trousers, sweaters, shirts, pretty much anything and everything you need, a la Parisienne.
Did you know that Ines was the first model to sign up an exclusive with a fashion house in the 80s? She was Karl Lagerfeld’s muse and favorite model for quite a while until they had a fallout. But since she walked in a Chanel defile in 2011, I’m certain they reconciled in the name of style. Not only is Ines a substantial fashion inspiration, but so is her eldest daughter, Nine d’Urso – we already talked about lovely Nine. Like mother, like daughter!
Although I could spend hours talking (and praising) Ines and her fashion sense, it’s better we talked about the collection as it’s a limited edition. It has four coordinates: ‘Petite Parisienne’, ‘Bleu, Blanc, Parisienne’, ‘ Souffle de Parisienne’ and ‘Note Parisienne’. As you can see, it’s all revolving around Paris. Which isn’t actually bad as the city itself is inspiring and relevant for the world of style.

A handful of classic cut clothes in basic, timeless manner, separates which could be worn in almost endless combos. Ines herself admitted the clothes in the collection are clothes she could absolutely wear herself. That’s a reassuring thing to know, coming from a fashion aristocrat who puts practical and accessible fashion before snobbery and elitism.
