If you dream of wardrobes like Katy Perry’s or Blake Lively’s, you need to read the following, to know what to you must wear next spring!
Fashion is moving fast so here we are, forget NYFW, and LFW, start discussing about Milan Fashion Week with Gucci Spring Summer 2014. An unmistakably sensual collection playing with loose shapes, oversized details, straps, fringes and .. did I say loose already?
The word describing Frida Giannini’s SS14 collection for the house of Gucci was ‘activewear’. Sure, there were a lot of references to clothes we’d wear on our way to the gym, but the embroidery and the fringe details were so careful, minutiose and sensual that you’d more likely think loungewear than treadmill sessions!
Let’s take a look at the shoes and bags conceived by Frida Giannini’s team for Gucci Spring Summer 2014 (oh, and by the way, Blake Lively was indeed, seated Front Row at this show! Right next to Anna Wintour – convince yourself here):
You’ll notice a lot of straps. Straps that translate beyond the shoes into fringes hanging from the shoulder bags or the oversized pouches. There were stripes of fabric, stripes of leather everywhere in Gucci’s SS14 collection.
What I was thinking when I first noticed the sandals were ballet shoes. Like the pointes, Gucci’s sandals are highly elevated above the ground, towering pyramidal heels with metal heads pushing against the catwalk in a decisive design.
With a single exception, all the shoes walking in the Gucci Spring Summer 2014 fashion show featured black, up the ankle, elasticated multi straps. A handful of three-straps sandals were threw in the mix as well, but there was only one that stood apart from the dark-hued sea of sandals! A pair of purple, orange and black high heeled suede sandal that was just too beautiful for words. Very Gucci!
Let’s see what the bags were about: like I said, Gucci recommends the fringes, the tassels and bright colors like red, purple and neon blue. Suede is the handbag material of choice but we’ll do with precious reptilian skin as well (something I noticed about some of the shoes as well – precious reptilian skin).
There’s a feeling of flow, of airy looseness that would suggest dancing studios instead of boxing gyms but the overall iridescent sensibleness but powerful femininity of the collection created by Frida Giannini for Gucci Spring 2014 is more than welcome to fill my any-occasion wardrobe! Especially those purple and orange suede sandals! (images courtesy styledotcom)
