5 Spring Fashion Trends From Chanel Couture Spring 2013 Collection

We’re at this 2013 Spring Couture week’s third show report and it’s safe to declare flowery clothes and flowers appliqués on various clothing items as the main fashion directive of the Haute Couture Spring 2013 Fashion Week.

Stylists want us all to wear the Spring, not just feel it. And the designers weren’t shy about using the stylists directions, they went heads first and filled their new collections with a colorful infusion of petals.

This idea had so much potential that Karl Lagerfeld over used it in his Chanel Couture Spring 2013 collection. Flowers up, flowers down, flowers in print, flowers in lace, all kinds of flowers, all sorts of placements for almost any and every look from his collection’s total of 68.

What I find to be particularly weird in my fashion relationship with Chanel is that despite Lagerfeld gargantuesques collections, I find lesser looks to like and marvel at. It’s like Der Kaiser diluted his fashion genius, spreading it into too many garments. Does it happen to you as well?

Here are the 5 looks I found interesting this Chanel season (in no particular order) because they’re perfect emulations of the main spring 2013 trends: (images Marcus Tondo / InDigitalteam / GoRunway; styledotcom)
{1} flowers: because it’s such an original design, I just can’t get enough of it! (this description should be associated with the first image included in this story)
{2} delicate: because our inner bird needs to see the light of day every now and then. (this description fits the second image included in this story)
{3} trompe l’oeuil: because things are not what they appear to be. At least not in fashion. (this description is to be associated with the image below)

{4} stripes: because you need them stripes, disguise them all you want, but wear them!

{5} suited: because you need a power suit after all those flowers and petals!

I only see a lot of ugly dresses…
and I was about to say the same : too many outfits for one collection.
Does he really think that everything he sketches deserves to be put on the catwalk ?
It seems it is not even about the clothes anymore at Chanel. Only the show.
Any other designer who dared to put out this collection would be crucified.

Since I’m here to reply to ana…..not to speak about the shoe-wear….ugh, I can’t stand these ugly open-toe-things….

Further I agree with you both.

Thank you! I thought I was immune to the Chanel charm, a cold block of fashion ice! Thank you for giving me courage and supporting me! :*

Couldnt agree more. No editing. Is he afraid that time is running out and that every idea he has must be sampled? In the Chanel collections there are beautiful garments but alot of uglies.
