Do we really need a reason to buy a new bag? And even if we do, the sight alone of this Feathered Ombre Tom Ford Bag is enough to push it on the first position in my fashion priorities shopping list!
I just saw it this morning and although I was going for another story, the image of this feathered bag wouldn’t fade from my memory. Perhaps because there wasn’t much else to see on the model but the bag (you’ll see what I mean by that after the jump), perhaps because festival season is soon upon us and I keep mixing and matching festival outfits in my mind (I do like to wear feathers for summer festivals – in my hair, around my waist and so on).
Either way, this marks yet another winning point for Mr Ford’s commercial design as I find this bag very appealing. It’s a very simply constructed satchel, though: woven leather on one side going up with a woven leather shoulder strap while the other side is covered in black and white ombre goose feathers (gradients always get me under their spell).

The handbag has no interior lining and the only ‘hidden’ feature is an inside floating pocket for easy accessibility. All that is available for $2,950 – a real golden deal (for Mr Ford, biensur).
The bag appeared in the Spring Summer 2014 Tom Ford Collection Fashion Show, part of an all-leather look. For that particular case, not only the feathers offered a breaking point in the all-too-black palette, but they were also the perfect way to soften, sweeten up the harsh edge of leather.

If you’re not feeling in the mood for that much leather and feathers, you can always opt for a canvas tote with printed feathers. Not as couture-ish, but absolutely ethical and very budget-savvy!
