I could’ve just let this be a mainstream story but I wanted it to feel special. Because it is. Special. Ten Thousand Things jewelry sound and look like something else. They’ve pioneered so many times and tweaked and turned the classic jewelry design into so many simple yet incredibly catchy ways that you need to get to know them better!
They’ve made the cover of Vogue, the pages of Elle, the pictorials and advertorials of so many brands and magazines and still they’re relatively unknown to the large masses. But Ten Thousand Things have been around since 1991 and they’ve hanged on Kate Moss’s ear in her first Calvin Klein ad print! Fast forward to 2013 when TTT has worked on a special jewelry collection with Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin (as promoted by Leigh Lezark in a promotional campaign photographed by – you guessed it! – Inez and Vinoodh)!
The collection is actually based on a design that the legendary couple entrusted TTT with to mark the special love they have for each other and for their son, Charles Star Matadin, 10. Hence the little star on the necklace and the two entwined rings one of which is carrying a mix of multicolored stones.
Inez and Vinoodh have been a couple even before TTT ever existed (they met and stuck together since 1986 while TenThousandThings was formed in 1992) but their creative force is undeniable and the design they imagined for this necklace is yet another proof of how deep their innovation goes. However, TenThousandThings is also celebrating 20 years in the business so, marking the occasion, a Love + Adorn collection photographed by Inez and Vinoodh, handcrafted by TTT, inspired by respectable names in the creative&showbiz industry will be auctioned off with proceeds going towards the respective celebrities preferred charity organization. (more details will be published in the January 2013 issue of V magazine)
As much as I would love to honor them, the cause and also enjoy the beautiful necklace they created in the name of their special love, NY Times T Magazine reports that the price tag reads $8,950 and that it’s available at Barneys NY. However, more lovely sparkling jewelry are in TTT’s portfolio and the prices vary from under $200 to $1,000 and up, up, up.
Maybe their perfume will be more affordable? Ah, yes: this September’s first week marks the launch of Inez & Vinoodh’s first fragrance with Byredo perfumes. Fashion Photographers going global, huh?
This story was written in complete and disinterested appreciation for TTT and Inez&Vinoodh and neither Ten Thousand Things nor the highly esteemed photographers have any idea who I am or what I wrote. But: beauty needs appreciation and this is my way of showing my modest support.
