Gogol Bordello Start Wearing Purple

How familiar are you with Gogol Bordello? It’s been more than 10 years since I’ve known them, listened to them and had fun playing along or dancing their tunes! But while most of their songs are madly deeply gypsy punkish, none stroke me quite like Start Wearing Purple.

It’s been more than 7 years since it has first hit the airwaves and keeps being played ever since with the same success – at least I keep on listening to it and enjoying it even more than I did in 2006 when it was first released.

Just for a short reference: Gogol Bordello hails from the heart of Manhattan and it has traveled the world continuously, sustaining their gypsy punk style through concert after concert, chaining festivals and live representations. I thought about this happy, unusual, chaotic, punk song today because I’m fully supporting the Lupus Awareness Day. Which comes with a loooot of purple! So: Start Wearing Purple, wearing Purple / Start wearing Purple for me now…! – right after the jump!

This is so awesome!! Someone very close to me suffers lupus disease. Can’t believe you post this today. I did notice it earlier but had to go. But….I am at her house at the moment and I can assure you coincidentally she loves Gogol Bordello, she loved purple yet before lupus was diagnosed. Then she had to fight to get her disease recognised as being a serious illness. There’s no cure for this illness until today. I learnt a lot about it and so should everyone. It can happen to anyone.

While wearing purple, in her name and all her fellow lupies I thank you lots for paying attention and spread awareness. She’s all smiles!
And from me lots of hugs. <3

They should've invited them to play at the Met lolz! Imagine Gogol Bordello performing for Anna Wintour and all those polished guests who only care about the flashes, press columns and looks reviews and not about punk. For real. I sometimes wonder if they still know what 'having fun' means outside white lines of fine powder :(

“The most beautiful woman in the world” {winksatellington} said the MET Gala was “boiling and un-fun”. She never wants to attend any MET Gala anymore.
A punk would have said “NO FUN” and made room with a firm pogo. So, bye, bye to Gwynnie Vogue US covers then ;)

Gypsy themed next year? No!! They(ab)use and ruin the great Bordello style probably too. Ja, ja….;) :D
