Rock The New Week: Rolling Stones Paint It Black

I was kickstarting the fashion ceremonies last week with a Slimane material and with an oddly disturbed feeling about his latest Saint Laurent advertorial mission. Now I’m starting it with something I deliberately left for Monday instead of Friday: The Rolling Stones, Paint It Black!

And although two grand ladies just passed away (by that I’m referring to Lily Pulitzer and the Iron Lady herself, Margaret Thatcher), picking this song had actually no other reference of passing away in my head. Just felt in a rocking mood and wanted to share that with you, boost this Monday and fuel the energy tank with pure rock’n’roll.

Hit the jump, press play and tell me if it was any fuel-ing at all!

The Rolling Stones paint it black era

I can’t believe this happened in 1966! It’s hallucinating! And I keep enjoying this music (sometimes even more) like it was made yesterday! One of my favorite movies ever included this song on their official soundtrack (the end credits, actually): The Devil’s Advocate. What a wonderful movie. And oh, what a wonderful piece of music!

Jude Law Dior Homme Sport ad Rolling Stones music

Also: do you remember we talked about Jude Law doing a Dior commercial? It was last year, and yes, one of the commercials featured Paint it Black as a soundtrack. Liked that better than I liked Jude starring in it (wink).

A respectful Rest in Peace to Lily Pulitzer.

Dior get you hands off great rock songs! Find something new. Merci!

I LOVE Paint It Black. Sing along when you’re angry and play it on high volume! It works. On the other hand when you’re in a good mood rock on!!

Lastly, my middle finger, both of them, to The Iron Lady!! I can care less. Her inheritance is still alive ….ugh….do I need to say more? So here we go again then on high volume:

“I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes”
