Whenever I think about Anne Hathaway, I think she’s a Valentino girl. And that not just because she wore a Valentino gown to her wedding, but also because at the very beginning of 2013, reports, kept coming in about how loudly Anne partied at Valentino’s New Year’s Eve party (there were even rumors about her singing a duet with Madonna during the night)!
Still, for the 2013 Critics Choice Awards, Anne Hathaway wore a silver sequined Oscar de la Renta dress. How is that even possible? Then again, on the same Red Carpet as Marion Cotillard not wearing Dior, anything is possible!
As for Anne’s dress – although Oscar de la Renta’s collections usually feature a lot of sequined fabric and many glamorous gowns, the 2012 Pre Fall collection listed a very similar model to what Anne is wearing, only in gold. Could very well be the same design. As you’ll notice from the images below, Anne went up on the Critics Choice Awards tonight to receive an award for her performance in Les Miserables. Congrats to Anne and everyone else involved in the making of this movie!
Fashion wise, as I said, tonight’s Red Carpet was pretty disappointing, Anne Hathaway’s dress being one of them: too simple. Too column – y, too washed out. Of course one can always consider that this is the perfect example of timeless, classy elegance, and that Anne is wearing her perfected silhouette with grace. But her wide smile aside, there’s really such a drama aura to her tonight and the dress only enhances it. Definitely not something / someone I look forward to seeing in a glamorous night!
