Kate Moss Covers Vogue Paris December 2011 January 2012

It’s been a while since I haven’t seen Kate Moss on a magazine cover! Especially a Vogue Paris cover! So here she is, in all her mimic splendor, doing her best Bowie impersonation for the December 2011 January 2012 issue of VP as photographed by Mert and Marcus.

You should also notice that this is the music issue. So why isn’t there a musician on the cover, you’d ask? Because we have Kate wonder – Moss who is married to a musician and who is also flirting with music herself, singing here and there at her husband’s venues. Anyhow, I admit I liked her impersonation of David Bowie, even if many voices raised against it.

What you need to know, if this cover is pushing you towards the newsstand: don’t expect a Kate Moss pictorial inside – there isn’t any! (click through to discover Vogue Paris’ inside surprise!)

What you’ll find instead is the Balmain one-piece worn by Kate on the cover, also worn by Raquel Zimmermann in her Queen of Noise pictorial, styled by Emmanuelle Alt and photographed by David Sims. A very rock’n’roll pictorial heavily influenced by Kate Moss’s husband’s band colleague – Allison Mosshart (cover pun intended, I imagine) and Patti Smith. I find that it’s a gesture of low imagination and style creativity, even if it brings elements from the cover inside the magazine.

What Emmanuelle Alt did was splitting the cover image (or the other way around – bringing together the inside goodies under one aesthetic through Kate Moss as David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust) between two pictorials. We’ve seen Raquel, now let’s check out Arizona Muse below, as David Bowie photographed by Inez and Vinoodh. How do you like the new Vogue Paris?

I love the cover but I don’t like what Inez&Vinoodh did to Arizona Muse or better said David Bowie. That’s an epic fail! I like their work less of late….
First thing that caught my eye was the warmth due to the colouring and the rest followed suit quickly.

Kate does not sing ever at her husband’s gigs. Or it must be in the audience or backstage.I am a Kills fan you see :)

I love me some Kate but why not just have the original – David Bowie on the cover – that would have been epic!

Riana, but she did once – at a charity event! ;) remember? (and as she used to sing with Pete Doherty on the stage sometimes, I imagined she could do just the same with the Kills. But you know better, I’m sure, so I just stick with what I originally knew – about her taking the stage at a charity event).

Oh, yes, David Bowie on the cover! wearing Balmain! ha! lol

Yes, I remember Kate did sing at a charity event and also with Pete Doherty even once at Glastonbury. Very much to the dismay of fans. But she has never performed with The Kills. Rumour has it when the romance was still young Kate immediately wanted to sing but Allison didn’t allow her to do so. :)

David Bowie is a graceful older man now. He can not pose for covers like this anymore. I would be shocked! I like this alien-like Kate cover and cherish Bowie LP’s album covers. :)
