The Beautiful Oscar Dresses: Armani, Elie Saab, Versace And More!

Though you know me well and I can’t help but put in a pinch of pepper with every Red Carpet event, last night’s 2010 Oscars Ceremony was pretty much flawless! The dresses were downright lovely and the Misses… well, let’s say they really deserved the gorgeousness of their frocks!

Talking about few of the most notable appearances of the night didn’t leave me without fuel to go on and mention the others. And not because I wouldn’t have graced them with an individual article, but because it’s about time we wrap up the fairytale-ish event that was the 82nd Academy Awards Ceremony! (the story continues with more images right after the jump, click here for the gallery!)

The tone of the night was pretty much into neutrals. Beige, chair, butter-y nuaces, everything it takes to make a significantly subtle elegance work better than a thousand sequins. However, notably missing last night were the prints! With Maggie Gyllenhaal’s exception (and what a lovely one, might I add! My favorite from this edition of the Oscars!), our beloved stars weren’t into print-experimenting. Less is more, and right they were!

The Red Carpet usuals: Marchesa, Elie Saab, Armani, Versace, even Vera Wang, Oscar de la Renta, Dior, and Chanel were exposed under our very eyes. Talking about the Marchesa girls only leads us to the next glam-pack: the Armani girls: Amanda Seyfried and Jennifer Lopez. Both attending the Ceremony for presenting purposes, both wearing stunning dresses with the Armani Prive label on, both from the Spring Summer 2010 collection. Both equally charming and glamorous.

Anna Kendrick Elie Saab Dress 2010 Oscars

Next is the Elie Saab pack: Anna Kendrick and Rachel McAdams. If Anna Kendrick falls in the buttery category with a beautiful dress from the Spring Summer 2010 Couture collection, Rachel McAdams went further, within the same collection, finding something different. Something printed! But oh, did she look like poetry in motion! Rarely have I seen such complimenting dress! This Elie Saab Spring 2010 couture was made for Rachel McAdams!

It’s time for Atelier Versace: Demi Moore and Elizabeth Banks. Also presenting during the night, the two ladies chose two stunning designs from Atelier Versace, both on the burned sided of the colors palette.

Last but not least, few of my favorite ladies: Meryl Streep, the wonderful Meryl Streep was dressed in white! Wearing a dress from Chris March, Meryl was flawlessly elegant like she always is. Mo’Nique (the winner of an Oscar award for the Best Supporting Actress) had an electric blue dress from Tadashi Shoji. Charlize Theron was Dior faithful (not sure why she had that orangey-red lipstick on, though), Penelope Cruz had a burgundy number from Donna Karan Couture, Mariska Hargitay had a deep dark blue Vera Wang, pretty much the same color as Kristen Stewart’s Monique Lhuillier. Who was your favorite? (did you have just one?) (photos via 1, 2, 3)

I wrote this at the wrong article about Cameron’s dress in a reply to Ellington (can it be removed there???)

“As a whole: I miss the rebels on the red carpet. I miss some outraging outfits, some people that say: I’m not gonna do that “step and talk” for lots of money anymore I miss the old fun. It’s boring dull. Commerce is boring it kills the fun spirit. Also the fault of the censuring. Blehhhhhh……I tried to remember the last time I really loved the Oscars. That goes way back to the 90’s!! It’s a pity……no more sex, drugs and rock n’ roll…..
Kpriss, dear readers of this blog: don’t take my last sentence to literally. Hopes you get my drift?”

Yes, Meryl looked great as always. Demi’s dress is beautiful but she looked like a freak of nature. Charlize was an ice-queen in another gorgeous dress. She has become more and more icy. Poor Kristen Stewart couldn’t hardly move or knew how to behave in her dress which made her presenting job look awkward. No coaching?
I still miss the woman of the night Katryn Bigelow! Way to go and she looked beautiful. Every time she stood up to applaud for another award for her film it seemed she seem to arise and she’s yet so tall by herself.
Yes, it’s all flawless and pretty and beautiful. But it’s no fun….sorry……but I we have entertained ourselves a lot.
These were my censored off-the-couch comments.

One more point, the Academy Awards forgot to honour Farrah Fawcett in their remembrance. She was not the greatest actress but she was a very beloved iconic actress. What a shame!

They did not mention Farrah at all?! What a shame. I did like her as she did do some good work after Charlie’s Angels.
I really like Rachel McAdams dress its beautiful and it looks like it was fun and comfortable to wear. :)
The neutral dress are pretty but I do not find them memorable.
Kristen Stewart always looks out of place and uncomfortable.
And Meryl Streep knows what suits her and I think she looks lovely.
Demi is a tad alarming looking and not in a good way.
I love the colour of Charliz dress, but she just looks like she is simply posing but the best “poser” is Jennifer Lopez, she has perfected that thing.
Mo’Nique looks lovey in her blue, she and Gabourey matched. :)
I think that my two favourite dress are Zoe Saladana’s for the beautiful couture look of it and the colour and Rachel McAdams for the beautiful easy look of her dress and the pattern. : )

I forgot Rachel McAdams whom I also love for her acting skills. I agree this was one of the more surprising dresses.

Penelope Cruz looks like such a goddess. Don’t worry about Farrah – they will do something for her next year perhaps? She might get a memorial all her own. Kirsten S (from all accounts a true tomboy) looks as cute as a button – and isn’t she still just a teenager? Most teens are totally self-conscious and awkward – not a great time to have to dress like a glamourpuss screen icon and pose for the world’s press! Her dress is gorgeously, effectively simple.
For me, Diane Kruger’s dress was one of the best :)
Rachel McAdams’s dress print looks perfect for some nana’s curtains!
I also covet J Lo’s clutch – simple and beautiful

I don’t think Farrah will be ever honoured like they do at the Oscars. But the fact that so many people missed her is a great honour too I guess?
Good point about the teenagers. Miley and ??? (forgot her name) presented and looked awkward too. They had to lift up their dresses. There must be great dresses to find for girls that age which make them look good and feel comfortable. What a failures.
And from teens to a much older woman: Dame Helen Mirren: WOW! That was great. How sexy a woman over 60 can look. She definitely can. It’s well known that Helen always has her own wishes while Meryl not really cares about fashion in general. Dame Helen has also a figure to die for. I miss her here.

Today I love Demi’s Atelier Versace dress in that soft orange a lot. I liked the one Demi wore yet but in that orange colour….gosh, they make such gorgeous dresses….sighs….

Oh, how stupid Miley Cyrus and Amanda Seyfried (only a name to me) presented together. Her name is presented on a plate here! Does that dress look different than on the catwalk model? Not a good choice. Much too bland and too many stiff fabric for such a cute young girl and…..no, I quit now! Sorry!
