Miley Cyrus wants to be taken seriously. So much that she’s willing to put herself in the line of fire by showing (too much of) herself in a women fashion magazine: Miley Cyrus covers Elle August 2009.
Miley, widely known as Hannah Montana sprung some serious controversy when doing her last “serious” magazine spread (remember Vanity Fair by Annie Leibovitz?); a year later she’s back, ready to raise more eyebrows (photographed by Carter Smith) as she puts on a Rodarte dress or a Wu jacket. (the story continues right after the jump with more pictures!)
Elle’s August Cover story decrypted: Miley has officially started promoting her Max Azria Wal-Mart Collection! Elle knows how to rule out financial difficulty throughout the summer heat! (not to mention the number of teen-buyers they’ll drawn to the dark side with this issue!) Is that pink thing really to appear in Elle? (photos via 1, 2)

She may not be a kid anymore but she looks like one trying to play dress-up. This will of course appeal to her fans, not really to adult women.
Now that’s her trick… I imagine this as part of her marketing strategy for promoting the Wal Mart collection. Because teens may know who she is (and adore her) but do their mums know about Miley? If she’s pulling one or two appearances to prove that she’s morally impeccable, mums all over could fall for her collection as well as their daughters (or even more if that’s possible)!
I doubt this cover thing to be really fashion related! don’t you?
Love the styling , if only they have shopped their head out of the pictures.
Why couldn’t they airbrush her face?
It’s a little bit creepy see her on Elle’s cover.
It’s obvious that she is not a kid but she is not an adult too so she is out of place.
@kpriss If teens know Miley, I’m sure that their parents (and specially their mums), will know about Hannah Montanna/Miley Cyrus.
Maybe it’s just part of her marketing strategy but… in Elle? She would look better in Teen Vogue or other teenager’s magazines.
( Excuse my awful English but I’m still learning it)
I can’t believe seeing Miley on cover of ELLE. Where are other girls? or at least they should put a guy on the cover to get attention.
listen i love miley and all but she is such a hypocrite!!! she acts as if she is soo innocent then posts pictures of her self like that all over the internet and some of them she takes herself!! these pictures arent that bad but if i were her parents i would not be allowing my 16 yr old daughter to pose like that…. i mean you can disagree if you want… but i mean does anyone see what im seeing here!?!
I don´t really have a problem with the picture itself but about her being on this magazines cover. It´s a fashion magazine for women and her target group are 8 to 12 year olds. so I can understand that they try to get new customers in different target groups but I can pretty much imagine that regular readers will be annoyed by the “invasion of Miley Cyrus”. She should stick to teen magazines, please. I really don´t buy these rather pricey mags just to see their another teen star. As to her influence in fashion, I mean, come on. It´s not like she´s designing this collection by herself.
Miley reminds me of Lacey Chabert (eyes, not chin).
I think she’s cute… there is a whiff of envy in these comments though…
