Barbara Hulanicki’s first collection for Topshop is ready to hit the stores. The BIBA legend worked few pieces for the British retailer and now it’s all ready for April 28, the official launch day.
Barbara Hulanicki said her Topshop collection has little to do with Biba but a quick look will discover familiar prints, colors and headpieces among the beautiful clothes. She even drew exclusive illustrations that were printed on the pieces she designed. The prices for the collection start at $38 (for a cotton hat) and range up to $250 (for a suede jacket). (the story continues right after the jump, with more pictures and videos!)
I sincerely hope the new generation can also learn who Barbara Hulanicki was for the fashion industry so that her designs would be given the proper value. There’s a small bio section on Topshop’s website but even so, Barbara Hulanicki’s recent interior designer past blends wonderfully in this collection. It seems every single piece can turn into a bedding collection or upholstery of some king. It’s all cozy and summery because of the colors palette that was used but also because of the weigh-less fabrics.
I hope the Stones & Marianne Faithfull generation can wear Topshop by Barbara Hulanicki fearlessly! For good ol’ Biba times! If not, I for one, just found my favorite t-shirt for this summer! The sandal-print one! Which one of Barbara Hulanicki designs for Topshop would you pick up? (via 1, 2)

I like the pieces with the printed sketches!
Btw, the shoes in the first picture certainly look a lot like the 3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2009 heels, no?
WOW! I’d looked up Barbara’s birth of date, she’s 73 and what a fresh look she still has on fashion. I really like it.
I love all of this. I think it beats H&M hands down!
