Last week it was all about Blues. Now let’s add some lounge chill to the Friday Break soup! Growing up with the supers, few things coming after rival the feeling, the first chills you got seeing those beautiful, strong, independent women making a statement in fashion.
The supers time was also Dimitri from Paris’ time. He was mixing and matching music for the word’s most famed catwalks (Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel and so on). His James Bond-ish, cartoonish, retro groove was impeccably stylish, patching the time’s sound into a full-flavored Breakfast at Tiffany’s disco-house music.
Today’s Friday Break is about being stylish and groovy, being a girl, Une Very Stylish Girl! (you can read more about the song and Dimitri from Paris right after the jump!)
Coming back from Hotel Costes, the Ibiza compilations, taking things down the chill road, somewhere at the source of all lounge-chill things you’ll find Dimitri from Paris. Born in Turkey, raised in Paris, meeting the musical success in the US, Dimitri was the universal citizen experimenting with sounds. He grew up patching different tape pieces and later on applying the DJ-ing techniques to obtain the mix sound he’s been searching for.
His first album (including the hit single I Am A Very Stylish Fille) came out in 1996 (Sacrebleu) and it was named Album of the Year by UK’s Mixmag Magazine. Dimitri From Paris continued mixing and producing music albums but he didn’t meet the same success he had with Sacrebleu at the very debut of his career.
This is a song that every fashionista should have in her playlist. I am a very stylish girl! because fashion should be fun!
