Stéphanie de Monaco For Vogue Paris December January 2008 2009

Vogue Paris loves attention more than anything. More than fashion. What would Carine do if she was told to manage an un-shocking issue, non-smoking and 100% dressed? Resign?

December-January 2008 2009 Vogue Paris has landed Stéphanie de Monaco for the cover. Not a model. Unless making it into the ranks of the catwalkers by royal pedigree means counts for anything. Not a celebrity, unless the above. Not a notable person or personality unless the above. So what’s this Vogue Paris issue all about? Rich, tattooed, tired looking smokers? Célébrités francophones? (more after the jump!)

Because if the only difference between Vogue US and Vogue Paris are Wintour/Roitfeld and US celebs/French celebs, I’m definitely migrating towards Vogue Russia. I won’t get a thing from the magazine, but at least I’d be delighted by its beauty and the pictures of actual models/fashion.

Or maybe, just maybe, this cover is supposed to make a world of difference from the legendary Pin-up-ish calendrier accompanying this issue? Boredom vs clichés? (photos via)

Oh Kpriss, rumor has it that Carine is named as Anna’s succesor. I’ve just read it on another blog. And what I’ve read about a Vogue Russia party in the blog-file on Style.com made me so nauseous……sorry…..

I like this cover. And I like the other photos of Stéphanie too. As far as I know Stéphanie has posed before. Also she was one off the first royalties, not a celeb back then, who came up with á line by herself for bathing suits!

I find the way how women in fashion are portrayed often a cliché. Sometimes I mind sometimes I don’t mind.

Anyway, I’ve the feeling lately that fashion is a all about rich off-spring, tattooed, tired looking smokers. And don’t forget drugs and alcohol and the picture is complete.
It seems that Stéphanie has changed her life and is never ever in the news anymore with any scandal. She has cleaned up her act and does more meaningful things in life now.

Kpriss, sorry again……it was false alarm Carine does not make a switch to Vogue UK. I couldn’t imagine her there anyway.
But the rumor about Anna leaving Vogue is still on….

I think Stephanie and Carine captured well the mood of the moment. Moral and economic – wise.
The cover’s simple, offbeat and careful. She’s come a long way from her iconic Vogue/Paris cover in 1986(I think)by Helmut Newton.
I read somewhere it was so easy to work with Stephanie. The cover was prepared and shot in less than an hour at her office. She’s not fussy and was always on time for the photo shoots and was not capricious at all. She just wanted to do a good job and finish on time to pick up her kids from school and prepare them dinner.

Quote Dolly: “I think Stephanie and Carine captured well the mood of the moment. Moral and economic – wise.”

Right, bravo!

Princess Stephanie has led an interesting and varied life, and I believe she was also tragically in the car with her mother Princess Grace, when she died.
She looks lovely in these photos.
As for Vogue the magazine, I only purchase it at certain times of the year in regards to the on coming collections and if there is a person of interest to me on the cover or a story about them in the pages.

I’m so behind on the politics of Vogue … but honestly, I just think this is a gorgeously composed image and I’m glad they chose to use it on the cover. It’s refreshing.

I agree with Sal, it’s just a lovely cover. Different and yes, refreshing!
