Karl Lagerfeld put his blue suit, his blue gloves, his blue tie and went on a date with the French Culture Minister, Christie Albanel. And all that for a gold coin!
125th years have passed since Coco Chanel first saw the light of day. That calls for a celebration! And for a 5 euro coin! At least it’s made of gold! Karl‘s tie got me (sadly) thinking that the wide tie was back in fashion again! I find it so… silhouette killing! But at least we’ve got a golden Coco Chanel on one side and the quilted 5 euro on the other! So chic! I’m not a coin-admirer myself. My husband has a weakness for sparkling beautiful piece de monnaie from around the world, unique and significant pieces of history. I don’t think the Coco – piece would draw his attention, nevertheless! So let’s get back to the wide tie. It’s officially a comeback? (more pictures after the jump) (photos via)
UPDATE: More about the chic anniversary coins has been released to the press: the 5 euros is a clin d’oeuil at Chanel’s legendary No.5 perfume. There were 99 pieces of gold coins released, each priced at 5,900 euros and 11,900 pieces of silver coins, each priced at 45euros. The official launch date is December 1st.
