Questionable Style – Kate Moss Tartan Skinny Pants

Not so long ago I’ve seen a pair of skinny tartan pants in a high street fashion chain store. Was not impressed. Moved along and bought a mini tartan dress instead with a little black embroidery in the front. That because plaid is funny and very much in this fall.

However, seeing La Moss wearing these tartan skinny pants didn’t made me go fashion sleepwalking, blinded by her overwhelming style icon status, So I didn’t rushed down the door with soul purpose emptying the store’s tartan pants stock. Yes she looks pretty, yes she can pull those pants because she’s got a thin constitution but I still don’t get bitten by the skinny tartan bug. Yes, her look is very nonchalant and carefree but so trendy in the same time, yes, she’s Kate Moss! (more after the jump, don’t miss the poll attached to this post!)

Now let’s look at the entire picture for a moment: the black top tied up right under the belly. The black short sleeved jacket (but a completely other shade of black than the t-shirt), the black worn out boots (like she loves’em), the black purse, the black wayfarers, her messy hair (that looks more like it’s been cut with a piece of broken glass, car glass!) – a casual orchestrated look with no other harmony than her name.

Kate Moss wearing skinny tartan pants and male friend s matching tartan jacket

What’s there to admire in her look? (not to mention she matched her pants with her male friend jacket! soooo Beckham!) I see a thirty something (beautiful, that’s true!) woman who’s still playing teenage girl and think she can pull it brightly. Her somewhat ageless self can get away with almost anything but that doesn’t mean the rest of the world has to follow! I can still objectively style judge and I say no, thanks! I’d rather follow Gwyneth Paltrow’s fashion tryouts than Kate doing her LaMess stuff over and over again! She’d better start that singing career she brags about and grant us a Mess-less moment! Have your say in this Questionable Style, Moss Edition and cast your vote!

Eh, I have pants like that….made with my own hands…10 years old though!
Now what? Am I a Moss-follower now when wearing them? Ouch….

I definitely shall not wear mine again!

What troubles me more than the pants is the fact that she seems to be attempting to eat her own fingers in all of these photos …

I like Kate, and she usually can wear anything and she is a style icon, but these tartan trousers are reason enough for Scotland to demand to be free of the United Kingdom! :P

If you look, you will find that agyness deyn did this a while ago with one of her designer friends – but she whipped out a blue + green tartan, and it was a suit jacket actually made of the same material.

Hint for you miss moss: if you’re gonna co-ordinate patterns, make them the exact same, not just in the same range. which is why zebra + leopard print DON’T GO! comprende?

I totally disagree – if you know anything about punk style you would know that tartan will always be around and worn well.

Blacks should not match – it’s called giving your clothes texture and style. Next thing you know you will be saying you should match your lippy to your handbag and your shoes.

Casual style is hard to pull off and Kate does it effortlessly.

I think the black jacket dresses them up really nicely. I’m a sucker for a jacket like this, though.
