Rolling Stone And Mad Men Don Draper Cover

We live in interesting times, my dahlings! When the shows become reality. A world where entertainment is both King and Queen of the Prom (Andrej Pejic taught us a valuable lesson) and the lines between written scripts and lived life have just become blurrier than ever.

Don Draper is on the cover of Rolling Stone’s latest issue. I know some of you prefer to call it a Jon Hamm cover, but do take a closer look, this is no Jon Hamm. This is smoking Don Draper, as photographed by Mark Seliger. That’s what happens when you’re in character for six seasons. Your character’s skin becomes your own. I wonder what character he’ll play from 2014 onwards when Mad Men will finally be releasing its last episodes!

Andrej Pejic Galore, Stars In David Bowie Video With Tilda Swinton

Remember when the world was more shattered about David Bowie’s announcement that he was to release a new album? Everyone cheered and instantly adored the new material. Not that we lacked reason to do so when just one video from David Bowie’s latest album, ‘The Stars (are out tonight)’ is just as iconic as we’d expect, with Tilda Swinton, Saskia De Brauw and Andrej Pejic starring, directed by Floria Sigismondi.

Andrej has come a long way from being a fashion curiosity and he appears to be enjoying the spotlight and wanting to keep it for as long as possible. And that’s what he keeps telling Galore magazine where he did his latest fashion stint: that he even wants to be on the cover of the American Vogue!

Sigrid Agren Goes Movie Star For Chanel Beauty New Ad Campaign

My dahlings! I know I’m usually about shoes and bags, dresses and little bejeweled wonders. But have you thought about this Spring’s beauty look already? Which are the products you’re dreaming of and what are the themes you’ll favor once the sun will take his well-deserved and long-awaited place up in the sky?

Chanel is usually famed for setting the beauty trend during the last seasons and I think it won’t be any different this Spring Summer 2013 with their Avant-Premiere collection. I know the Awards Season is over, but that doesn’t stop us from wanting to look Red Carpet-ready all summer long. What am I saying? All life long!

Bleaching Fashion: Liya Kebede Amica April 2013

This is something I had to sit on and think if I’m really going to even bring up, let alone write a full-length story about it. But I just had to: I wouldn’t have felt honest about my fashion perspective otherwise.

See, I’m really a fortunate fashionista: I only talk about what I like and what interests me. I reminded you about my appreciation for Joan Smalls and Anja Rubik, Liya Kebede falls into the same category of models I like, women I actually look up to. Having her in a fashion magazine is so big for me, I usually cover her pictorials, meaningful or not.

Her grace, beauty and dedication make her special way beyond her beautiful physical appearance. Yes she’s an iconic model. But she’s also a wife, a mother and an activist. And here, a cover girl: for Amica April 2013. Bleached out and unrecognizable.

What’s Your Fashion Monster?

Browsing the elegant paths of the fashion interwebs the other day, I discovered an interesting piece about a cult fashion event: ‘Arrrgh! Monstes de Mode’ is a special kind of fashion exhibition hosted by the Benaki Museum in Athens(Greece).

The most unusual but very on-point exhibition was initiated by Vassilis Zidianakis and Angelos Tsourapas (both from Atopos CVC) and puts together all kinds of unusual fashion characters from no less than 55 fashion designers chosen from a pool of more than 5,000 creations from various names. Alexander McQueen and Martin Margiela are just two of the most notable creations labels presented. Next to those, new and upcoming young names can be admired as well: Craig Green, Hideki Seo.

Seeing Double: Anja Rubik In Vogue Turkey And Times T Style Magazine

I talked about Joan Smalls just hours ago, I will add Anja Rubik to the mix just because: she’s a professional model, she’s one of the most sought-after models for seasons already, she’s involved in an out-of-catwalk project (her 25 Magazine) and… of course, because I like her.

And I’m not the only one: Anja has secured (at least) two covers this month: Vogue Turkey and Times T Style Magazine. I can’t decide which I like best as they’re pretty different and their individual charm is to be considered separately. But I do enjoy that she’s getting the fashion attention she deserves. And, unlike other model I appreciate, Anja doesn’t get mock-up covers and the styling of her shoots is respectful and honest towards her potential.

Fashion Moment In Time: Stella McCartney Receives The OBE From The Queen

I may not always fall for Stella McCartney’s designs, but I do try to appreciate a stunning moment when I see one. As such, March 26th was a date to remember for Stella: she was awarded an Order of the British Empire by the very Queen!

The wide smile, the poised posture, the flawless outfit, the discrete head piece over the elegant low bun and the ah-mazing shoes! Stella sure knows how to show her fashion designer talents but also how to keep a low fashion key when necessary. Queen Elizabeth awarded Stella the OBE for her services to the fashion industry.

Congrats Stella McCartney! And thank you for all the excellent work you’ve done so far, may this be just the beginning!

Riccardo Tisci Does Self Service With Joan Smalls

Givenchy’s designer extraordinaire, Riccardo Tisci, brought his muse extraordinaire (which also happens to be one of my favorite models extraordinaire) Joan Smalls, for a Self Service session. With Maciek Kobielski behind the camera and a laid back model-mood.

Although Tisci’s mustache and the angles of the photos or the attitude of the surrounding models hints at a certain type of movies, we’ll just play cool this time, for fashion’s sake (and also because I said that today I’m in a nice, peaceful, tolerant mood) and just keep in mind that I really like Riccardo Tisci’s creative work at Givenchy. Also – I really miss his Haute Couture collections, so if anyone reads these lines, please pass on, I’m sure I’m not the only one feeling this way.
