The Sartorialist Files: The Sartorialist Book Chez Penguin!

Because it’s a blog-wide-known figure, Mr Scott Schuman will have his special series of articles right here, on Stylefrizz. The Sartorialist Files are all about Mr. Sartorialist’s adventure in the real (and blogging) world.

Today’s episode is about books. Yes, Mr Scott Schuman shall be granted with a (real life, paper) book. The project shall see the light of the world’s libraries chez Penguin. What subjects will he be touching in his own book? Well… Images? With a little writing. Isn’t it surprising?

I was not expecting rocket science, but this is totally and completely less than any expectation I might have had. And for the fans: the book will be published in paperback and it’ll be released simultaneously with a bespoke, limited-edition. And just to set the records straight – paperback editions of books is the academic expression for low cost books, without hard covers and usually using cheaper paper.

I deliberately stare at these pictures and can’t put my finger on what’s wrong with the two black and white images. I just feel there’s something highly unnatural there…

So, Posh has landed a million dollar deal with her modelling gig for Emporio Armani Underwear latest Ad Campaign ($24 million to be more accurate) and now the first pictures emerge leaving me uncertain about what (and why) she shows in those pictures. Because nobody’ll be looking at the exquisite Armani lingerie pieces. Instead, the eyes of the world shall search every inch of her body for flaws. (more after the jump)

A well known young American actress, Lindsay Lohan is more famous for her romantic life and her fashion retail deployment than for her acting career.

One of her latest gigs is spokesface for the Italian brand Fornarina. Their Spring Summer 2009 Ad campaign is a token of rare unprofessionalism.

The mirror motifs and the skyscraper view (not to mention the precious hair styling and makeup of the diva herself) are more suited for an adults magazine photo shoot than a fashion advertorial. However, I must admit the obvious: Lindsay is making true efforts to represent Fornarina, given she’s more an actress than a model. Should she be encouraged to do more fashion pictures? (via)

Nastia Liukin is not you average model. But then again advertising campaigns are hardly a models-only territoire.

A golden medal in the Beijing Olympics 2008 seems to have imposed Nastia in the world’s eyes. Bound to think of her as in terms of excellence, I’m looking at her new contract – the Spring Summer 2009 Ad Campaign for Max Azria and summarize it as wonderful. Could just as well be a fashion magazine spread, Max Azria’s SS 09 ad campaign with Nastia Liukin is set for gold! What’s the relation between Mercedes Benz and fashion? Some might immediately say Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. That’s half right because starting this year, you can also add Julia Stegner, world’s best model for 2008.

Julia Stegner is the new ambassador for Mercedes-Benz and she was photographed in an ad print for the brand wearing a red dress signed Anne Valerie Hash with a Mercedes-Benz CLS 350 CGI Grand Edition rolling on the back of her train like on the Red Carpet.

The images will be promoted starting with Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin (January 28 – February 1). Besides the obvious association with the Fashion Week, Julia Stegner’s appearance couldn’t really sell more Mercedes-Benz cars, could it? (berlinista.com via luxist)

While everyone (and their dog) goes on and on about the worldwide economic crisis, the fashion industry continues its retail benefices completely and absolutely untroubled. The semi annual sales still make every fashionista’s delight!

The Paris sales, however, are a bit different this year. And not just because this year Lou Doillon was the sales ambassador. It’s because the overwhelming importance of the Soldes By Paris are slightly shadowed by politics. Because politicians do not agree with the majority of French population over Sunday shopping, postponing indefinitely that long awaited moment to extend Sunday openings.

If you’re a France resident, do you think Sunday openings are more important than the sales? And if you’re not a France resident, imagine yourself a tourist in Paris, on a Sunday, when everything’s closed. How would you feel then? (via wwd)

I wouldn’t normally cover Beyonce when it comes to the Golden Globes, but this time I’ll make an exception. Because it’s just too much for my eyes to see!

That much suffering was imposed on that dress that I if only it had a mouth, it would’ve screamed its sequins off! I don’t get why Beyonce insists on her mermaid-ish appearances. She’s a successful, beautiful young woman with a great body. Or at least that’s what I thought. Whenever I see her corseted like this, I instantly wonder why she’s not doing what she preaches. Lady, if you love your natural body, leave it natural! Especially when that dress is clearly in pain! She must have had to cut down the dress at the end. Either that, or she just simply took the liberty to breathe and the seams went flying! Is it just me, or Beyonce’s body isn’t cut for this Elie Saab Dress? Oh, and where’s Sasha Fierce? I have to admit I was secretly hoping Vicky Cristina Barcelona’s Penelope Cruz wins the Golden Globe. Not necessarily because she gave an outstanding performance playing the estranged and deranged wife, but because the movie is such fun to watch! Only instead of winning for Best Supporting Actress, Vicky Cristina… was awarded with the Best Picture, Musical or Comedy Golden Globe! Well done!

Penelope Cruz usually plays it safe for the Red Carpet. Safe with a twist. This time it was just safe. The twist is when you concentrate on seeing the catch of the dress. Because there is none.
