Lady Gaga Loves To Wreck Hermes Birkin Bags
May 28th, 2010 by kpriss
True, she may be a bit late in trying so hard to destroy the Hermes Birkin legend (given the recent announcements regarding the replacement of Jean-Paul Gaultier) but Lady Gaga is really on to it! Customizing Hermes Birkin bags is not for anyone, that’s for sure!
I’m over my head when I found Crayola marks on my furniture (and that’s not uncommon in our household), let alone on my bag! If it was a Hermes Birkin, I’d keep it locked up. Not her Gaganess! No-oh! She’s writing stuff on her Hermes Birkin. And next, what do you know? She’s stuffing her Hermes Birkin with metal studs! Lady, you should know that your hedgehod-ish avantgarde-ism is no further than a 5-year-old’s artistic manifestations. Grow up? And leave them Hermes for those who know how to appreciate a five figure bag… (photos via 1,2)
Sarah Burton, We Have Faith In You!
May 28th, 2010 by kpriss
Word in the fashblogosphere is that Sarah Burton was appointed chez Alexander McQueen as creative director! Who’s Sarah Burton and why her?
Sarah has been working with Alexander McQueen ever since her Central St Martin graduation, 16 years ago. She was his right hand. Everyone has faith in Sarah’s vision and talent and so do we (don’t we?): Sarah, we have faith in you! Please carry on Lee’s magic vision and may the soul of couture live on through you! Katie Holmes Holmes & Yang Striped Dress
May 28th, 2010 by kpriss
I really tried hard to go around this. However, there was something about it keeping me from letting go. Katie Holmes made a recent Red Carpet appearance at the National Movie Awards (you know, the same where Emma Watson wore that white Lagerfeld).
And no, she had no particular haircut (I’d say she’s going back to her old self, with shoulder-length and wavy locks). She had a special dress on. Not fancy, not couture, no particular catwalk designer. She was wearing a dress from her own collection: Holmes & Yang, you know, the one we’re impatiently waiting to see? However, as relaxed and chic the maxi dress, there’s still something weird about it. What would it be? Can you help me pinpoint the problem here? (photos via)

Designers For Superheroes Chez Colette
May 28th, 2010 by kpriss
While I was convinced that the superhero thing was du passé, here’s Colette to tell me different! Teaming up with DC Comics for their 75th anniversary, Colette has commissioned a handful of bright designers to put their talent into superheroes homage and they came up with some pretty interesting things!
I’ll pass the Roger Vivier catwoman boots and go straight to Karl Lagerfeld’s Green Lantern gloves – Michael Jackson, anyone? And the Plastic Man shades by Thierry Lasry – Gaga much? (via)
Beyonce’s Dereon For C & A Collection Ad Campaign
May 28th, 2010 by kpriss
Did you know? That Beyonce was having a special Dereon for C & A Collection in the works? I had absolutely no idea!
Anyways, there she goes, fierce as ever, wearing her best body (with, I suspect, a bit of computer assistance) and doing what she knows oh-so-well : promoting. Her voice, her body, her clothes. And if you take a look at the video (you can watch it right after the jump), say you didn’t thought it was Shakira at first! (photos via)
Hermes Goes For Profit: JP Gaultier Out, Christophe Lemaire In
May 28th, 2010 by kpriss
Undeniably a fashion genius, Jean Paul Gaultier was designing for Hermes ever since 2003, when Martin Margiela retired. Hermes was also in possession of a significant part of Jean-Paul Gaultier label’s shares for four years already (since 1999) so it was a predictable move, bringing him over.
However, the latest Hermes news broke a liberation of Hermes iconic bags which could also mean the democratization of the once-so-exclusive Hermes label (the Birkin waiting lists were part of the Hermes bag myth). Now we’re hearing that Jean-Paul Gaultier is no longer with Hermes and that he was replaced by Christophe Lemaire. What could that mean? That extravagance and exclusiveness are no longer welcomed chez Hermes and that it’s time to bring “Un Peu D’Air Sur Terre” (a breath of fresh air on Earth) as the Lacoste campaigns, where Lemaire was head designer, were preaching. Should we feel good for Hermes getting closer to the average client? Or bad because true creativity seems to be an endangered species? (haven’t you learned anything from McQueen’s disappearance?) Sarah Jessica Parker’s SATC2 London Premiere In Alexander McQueen And Philip Treacy Hat
May 28th, 2010 by kpriss
If anything, Sarah Jessica Parker is one loyal lady! She went on premiering her Sex and the City 2 in London wearing exactly the same thing she did two years ago!
Don’t take it literally, but she did, however, had an Alexander McQueen dress on paired with a Philip Treacy hat. I’ll just say this: the dress is divine, as so many things Alexander McQueen, thank you SJP for bringing this on the Red Carpet and for staying with both Lee and Treacy after all this time! And since I love extravagant head pieces, this hat (even if black) speaks to my heart (yes, more than the butterfly ones two years back did). SATC 2 may not bring many good things (at least as far as the critics are convinced) but they sure know how to bring fashion around, don’t they? (photos via)

Versace Unique LG Mobile Phone
May 28th, 2010 by kpriss
With a name like that and some pretty heavy tech features, the Versace Unique Mobile Phone is the promise of Haute Fashionable Technology. Though the already announced prices leave little to imagination (from $6,747 to $8,464 for the ceramic-gold model with alligator skin), the new LG Versace Unique caught a world of attention.
Why? Well, whether in smooth black or not-so-discreet purple or pink, the Versace Unique mobile phone brings a 5MP camera, the Dolby Mobile surround sound, without even mentioning the case and the screen. What makes the case and the screen special, you’ll ask? The sapphire crystal touch screen is the largest of its kind ever released for final customers. It’s immune to scratches and highly receptive. Versace Unique mobile phone‘s back has handworked leather features (Versace’s medusa logo) and the front case has precious details too: either 18k yellow gold or 316L stainless steel. Doesn’t it scream for attention? (WWD via Luxuo)
