Alice + Olivia Fall Winter 2011 2012 Collection

You know me by now well enough to know my closet is more on the casual side of the catwalk and even though I fancy myself wearing lace, sheer and leather, I’m still a jeans and Converse girl through and through. Bonus some flowy, flowery summer dresses, a guilty please I indulge myself in every summer!

Alice + Olivia Fall Winter 2011 2012 collection is lovely, undoubtedly party-ish and unquestionably stylish. I fell for some of the pieces, I dream some of the outfits and I chose two more representatives for my point of style view. How do you like them? (images from the entire collection here)

Anna Dello Russo’s Golden Fashion Disaster

There’s definitely something about Anna Dello Russo and golden outfits. Someone, somewhere must have told Anna that dressing up like a pharaoh would definitely raise her sanctity levels sky high. And beyond.

And it’s well known that Anna Dello Russo is the High Priestess of Fashion, that nothing she wears is wrong and she’s an absolute authority when it comes to class and style. I have to differ, this Moschino fringed golden coat is everything but stylish and fashionable.

Also – in a world where a blue painted canvas is framed and posted as art, I should lay my exigencies lower, shouldn’t I? (images via 1, 2, 3)

The New Lanvin Sneakers

Look less appealing than my old pair of regular all stars Converse! At first I thought they were alright, but on a second look, I realized I’m not at all impressed! Maybe it’s also because I’m a pro color girl and these black and white sneakers don’t make it through the primal color selection criteria, but then there’s more!

This interesting pair of sneakers from the Spring Summer 2011 Lanvin collection signed Lucas Ossendrijver and Alber Elbaz could fit right into the general spirit of this season’s Lanvin collection, but they look like they were made from plastic. I’m sure mr Alber Elbaz wouldn’t mind slipping into one of these while eating his favorite Pizza Hut pizza, but I think he could’ve offered more for the asked price of $615. (and no, there’s no joke about that, Alber Elbaz really is a fan of Pizza Hut!)

Altuzarra Fall Winter 2011 2012 Collection

After striving so hard to find pieces I could include in my wardrobe from the previous collections, Altuzarra Fall Winter 2011 2012 comes as a veritable pain relief.

Commercial shapes and colors, truly appealing outfits paraded down the Altuzarra runway. I loved so many things, I don’t know where to begin! I’ll start, however, with the very first look of the collection – that military parka? It’s so beautiful and simple and cozy and chic! The sleek dresses and the wide leg classic pants are also among the pieces that stole my heart! Altuzarra will surely be a big hit this fall! (images from the entire collection here)

OPI Pirates Of The Caribbean Nail Polish Collection

If you’re as eager as I am to see the upcoming installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean series, then you’re going to love this nail polish collection from O.P.I.! Consisting of six limited edition nail lacquer shades, the new Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides series fits right in this year’s trends.

Remember that weird Chanel green-ish nail polish? Well, for $8 you can have a similar minty green from O.P.I.! It’s all tropical and lovely, I wish I could get my hands on all of them! Is it summer yet? (via)

Acne Fall Winter 2011 2012 Collection

I know we’re a long way till fall, but the new Fall Winter 2011 2012 collections look so colorful and alive, I’m really looking forward to this fall. Acne Fall Winter 2011 2012 collection is yet another example of colors and simple lines that will dominate the fashion come September.

Work overalls and patches, above the ankle pants and chunky wedges, that was the Acne spirit, inspired by a maximum style effect on a minimum budget. I’m just having issues with the makeup – people with minimum budgets who think about fashion usually look happier and more inspiring. (images from the entire collection here)

Black And White Comme Des Garcons Dress

When it comes to mixing patterns, I still get flutters in my stomach. I (almost) never can tell if I’ve done it right, or even what right means! So in my perspective, you have to have a darn good fashion sense to pull off two or more patterns in one outfit. (and by that I’m not referring to the gipsy mix and match style – that, I’m loving and there’s no right or wrong, it’s just gipsy)

So, naturally, this Comme Des Garcons dress impressed me on so many levels! I’ll start with the colors – it’s so black and white simple yet so very complex, it hurts! The shape is perfectly feminine and still Rei Kawakubo struck a seriously creative chord when she shortened one side of the dress still keeping the general length!

And last but not least – the price of this piece from the Spring Summer 2011 collection: $2,750? If I’ll start looking for pieces to assembly and pull a similar look from me own closet, would I look mad?

A Fashion Designer’s Ideal Woman: Bill Blass

You may think that this is all about shapes and size, but no, it’s far from it! I recently discovered a statement from Bill Blass describing what he liked and disliked in a woman. And, to my big surprise, it was a perfume ad, in fact!

Anyway, notice there are only 9 dislikes and 10 likes. While worrying about keeping it short and concise, and respecting the layout, Bill Blass made some interesting points, even for the 80s. Come take a closer look and tell me what you like and dislike yourself! (via)
