Carine Roitfeld’s Irreverent Costume Party. Kanye West Costumed As Himself

Before launching her own magazine, Carine Roitfeld still has a thing or two to do. Take her book, for instance. Irreverent (that’s the book – and you can buy it here) was launched with a costume party in Paris and everyone came dressed up for the special occasion.

Like Riccardo Tisci and Ciara. You can see them after the jump wearing attires specified by the soiree’s dress code, apparently (some kind of undead thing). They’re lovely. In an undead kind of way, biensur. Even Carine Roitfeld herself looks magically clownish. Like a dark clown, biensur. Wait, there’s more! Kanye West was there too! Only he must’ve misplaced his invite or his costume because he showed up dressed as.. himself? Oh, wait, he must have been wearing his designer costume! Yeah, that’s so clever, Kanye, especially since your show was such an unbearable success, nobody wants any part of it!

Trying really hard to stay relevant and in the spotlight, Mischa Barton has tried (almost) everything. From pretending to be a model in a (cancelled) TV series to getting arrested for DUI, Mischa works her way through life a la Lohan.

Her latest, a magazine feature in Ladygunn magazine, associated with a normal interview, modest and full of common sense logic would’ve been enough to relight the Mischa Barton love fire. Sadly, Mischa is an unstable young woman, drifting in the sea of success trying to get on board of any trend boat. Which brings us to her Tyler Shields photo shoot. Where Mischa is dressed to impress a serious chunk of raw meat.

Wow! Congratulations to the new mama! (yeah, I know how that sounds, but even the third or fourth or fifth time around, each time a new baby comes, you’re a new mama all over again! And it’s so beautiful and so emotional!) Tori Spelling gave birth yesterday, October 10 2011 at 7:08am to a baby girl!

Hattie Margaret McDermott already has a brother and sister: Liam Aaron and Stella Doreen who were born on June 9 and May 8 respectively. So Hattie was scheduled on a 10. Makes sense (doesn’t add up to my “weekend baby” rule, but I’ll live with it – wink). Blessings to the entire family!

Here I am, always complaining about video ad campaigns and the way they seal the fashion fate with an indelible style signature! And somewhere in Paris, an entire Film Festival around and about Fashion Film has just wrapped up his fourth edition!

With Diane Pernet at the helmet (you did notice the “Shaded View” title, did you not?), the Shaded View On Fashion Film festival was surely an interesting gathering of pretentious fashion intellectuals! Count Daphne Guinness and Ellen von Unwerth among the guests, YSL, Balenciaga Ari Seth Cohen as participants and Vogue.fr and arte among the sponsors. I always ask myself what should we buy for a friend’s anniversary. For a friend’s kid anniversary and so forth. Part of the shopping experience and an important percentage of its fun, is the Starbucks fix. I mean… come on? Mocha Frappuccino anyone? (my latest pleasure is the simple, yet effective double shot on ice)

Yeah (drooling) so Starbucks is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Happy Birthday! For the occasion, Starbucks has a little fashion surprise for all of us. A series of Designer tees signed by the CFDA / Vogue finalists Alexander Wang, Sophie Theallet and Billy Reid. It sounds too good to be true, right? Wait till you see the price tag: $85 for each t-shirt! How insane is that? Must be all the caffeine, huh?

So what’s the story with Beyonce’s Baby Bump? From the MTV announcement to today’s latest buzz, it would appear that everyone wants to see Beyonce fail in her motherhood enterprise. Which is rather lame and ridiculous.

The latest is her appearance in a TV show (Sunday Night HD), clearly wearing a fake baby bump, caught on (HD) camera. We’ll get to that prosthetic baby bump further down the (article) road. Awwww! Look how sweet! Kim Kardashian is wearing the same clothes as Lady Gaga! Better yet: Lady Gaga is finally dressed like a human being! Salvatore Ferragamo’s Fall Winter 2011 2012 collection seems to be hitting big on both stars.

Lady Gaga was all matchy matchy with an equally black and white shoes and clutch from the catwalk look, plus hat and sunglasses (ohhhh, I have to say the shades really got me! She went too far, I think, matching everything! She even had paint work done on her leg, in the same print as everything else!). So for this one, I’m tempted to say that Kim Kardashian really got the look better than Lady Gaga. More lady-ish and way more elegant. Whose style side are you on? Although scandalously violent and surprisingly romantic, Drive is a movie of many influences. You may want to check the boutiques for a colorful bomber jacket, they seem to be making a fashion comeback!

I hope you took my word for it and if you haven’t already, then consider watching Drive in the nearest future (I recently found a piece of news saying that someone filed a lawsuit against the movie for being too violent and discriminatory? Come oooon?!). If I’ll come across more bomber jackets, I’ll report back. Until then, here’s the lovely Rosamund Pike walking around town in a casual, sport-ish ensemble. Would you wear a jacket like that? (I kinda have one, only it’s in khaki, with no prints on. Just silk-ish olive green, so I might consider taking it out for a stroll? Get my DIY act together and maybe glue something, a scorpion – wink – on the back?)
