Joan Smalls For Vogue Italy March 2012 Over The Top Issue

While this is one of the most amazing news this week (I think it tops Viola Davis and Esperanza Spalding wearing natural hair while attending the 2012 Oscars Ceremony), Joan SmallsVogue Italia March 2012 is pretty strange.

Like they say: Over the top. Steven Meisel photographed a handful of gorgeous models (all white but Joan) for a special issue of Vogue Italia, dealing with the excess of all things style and fashion. And more. Not much has been posted online yet, however, I took out two images from the animated gifs which were made available. Now remember – it’s all about excess. All in all, I’m happy Joan landed this cover. As always, congrats to Franca Sozzani’s Vogue Italy for their courage and fashion initiative!

Retro Chic: Dsquared2 Fall Winter 2012 2013 Collection

We’ve seen so much of this year’s three Fashion Weeks already to safely assume that next fall is going to be a dark, moody and severe one.

However, breaching through the fall winter 2012 2013 darkness, ( -thankfully- ) few designers give us hope that there’s still color and fun in fashion. Dean and Dan Caten from Dsquared2 are one of those who felt there was more than just black leather and decadently luxurious fur to this Fashion Week season. A retro (think Mad Men), young and colorful collection was born (images from the collection here). Remember: le geek, c’est tellement chic! (wink)

Katy Perry’s Interview March 2012 Cover

Although her hair has seen all kinds of colors (and now it’s blue, maybe because of her recent divorce and all?), Katy Perry’s cover of Interview March 2012 photographed by Mikael Jansson is amazingly natural and beautiful. And, biensur, unrecognizable. Which, in this case, is all good!

With an elongated cat eye (you know, since it’s all about black eyeliner this year) and a teasingly beautiful Hispanic charm, Katy Perry was styled by Karl Templer for this issue of Interview magazine. The cover brings not just this beautiful sight of Katy but also an avantgout of the inside content – which sounds really amazing! This could be an issue you’d want in print! It’s an absolute keeper (isn’t it? I mean – Katy Perry by Kristen Wiig? Sarah Burton by Sarah Jessica Parker? I. Want. It. Now.)

Julia Roberts Covers Vanity Fair April 2012. Or Not

Julia Roberts is the cover star of Vanity Fair’s April 2012 issue. But why her story points to a broken link, is still a mystery to me. Maybe the fact that this issue’s topic, announced with Julia’s cover, didn’t draw almost any comment at all could have something to do with it? Simple technical malfunction or people don’t like the “Pretty Woman” any more?

Katie Holmes New Haircut For Oscars After Party

Katie Holmes debuts a new haircut for the 2012 Oscars Vanity Fair after party. Much like her former best friend, Victoria Beckham, Katie grew out her hair (remember the two used to be best GF and something switched Katie off and ditched her Posh BFF cum stylist. Too late, though, Katie turned into a Victoria lookalike.)

For the very high profile party, Katie Holmes showed up with Tom Cruise, biensur, and a new, fresh fringe. I think it suits her perfectly! Don’t you? (I wonder if Victoria will follow suit and get herself a fancy fringed cut!)(images courtesy)

The Precious 2012 Oscars Red Carpet Dresses

So: we’ve seen pretty much every major dress moment from the 2012 Oscars Red Carpet. What main trend did we notice when we drew the fashion line and made the style count? Precious! Precious dresses reigned supreme on the Oscars Red Carpet this year! Having doubts? Stay with me, I’ll take you trough a very precious journey, then!

Sequins and beads, precious embroidery and metallic dresses, it was all meant to steal the eye and charm the glam fashion hearts of whoever watched the event this year. We talked about Meryl Streep’s dress, Stacy Keibler’s tin foil gown, white sequined Elie Saab worn by Milla Jovovich; we even mentioned the power pale couple: Jennifer Lopez and Cameron Diaz and we were amazed by Jessica Chastain’s McQueen dress or Octavia Spencer’s lucky charm designer, Tadashi Shoji. Let’s take it further, after the jump! (or jump to see the gallery here)

Michelle Williams In Louis Vuitton Red Dress For 2012 Oscars

I think it’s safe to say that when it comes to Red Carpet events, Michelle Williams has a style of her own. She seems to be very fond of the double skirt cut.

Looking bright in a red Louis Vuitton dress, Michelle Williams was lovely and stood tall in a sea of pale dresses or safe lbd choices. I’m certainly not a fan of the double skirt thing, but stylists keep playing this trend through their A list clients. Was this red LV dress a good choice for Michelle? (images courtesy)

Milla Jovovich In Elie Saab White Sequined Dress For 2012 Oscars

Milla Jovovich looks amazing in one of the most beautiful dresses on the 2012 Oscars Red Carpet! She was wearing white (which was, again, one of the most notable dresses trends for this edition of the Oscars).

Her Elie Saab white sequined dress with asymmetrical one shoulder cut looked beautiful on Milla and gave her a slightly retro feel. As for her makeup – Milla Jovovich opted for the very trendy red lipstick to power up her otherwise immaculate look. Do we like her red lips? Or her white dress? (images courtesy)
