Chuck Taylor Converse Platforms Will Save Wedge Sneakers From Extinction?

Summer is almost here and although flat utilitarian sandals were the catwalk hype for the new season, many of us won’t deny ourselves the pleasure of wearing high heels!

For several years already, wedge sneakers seem like the dream answer to the need of height and the strive for comfort with each step. As we’ve seen models making a must-wear from Isabel Marant’s Willow wedge sneakers, we even found a way to dupe some pretty haute fashion sneakers sent on the couture runway from Dior and Chanel. But we were also warned by the same Isabel Marant that the wedge sneakers reign is over.

Will Converse save the day?

As its parent company, Nike, previously released a series of affordable wedge sneakers, Converse is issuing their version of the concealed high heels in platform sneakers. Available in few solid colors, the new Chuck Taylor Platform Plus sneakers have a very accessible price tag ($80/pair). The hidden 2.5 inches heel offers extra kick from our old, trusted starry label.

Will Converse’s undeniable popular appeal save the doomed fashion fate of the wedge sneakers? There’s no telling yet as the platforms are still young and the rainy season barely wraps up its flooded routes. What’s certain is that those who didn’t afford the designer versions of the wedge sneakers now seek comfort in products of affordable brands such as Nike and Converse.

Very good news for the s!aves of fashion I suppose? I wear sneakers for comfort not because “the catwalks” dictates anything. And for fun of course. The Dior and Chanel sneakers are a joke. Made for the label maniacs. Bought myself some elegant Adidas sneakers which I don’t really need but because i’m also a bit of an idiot. A bit ;)
People should educate themselves about fashion. Go to YouTube and find out that most of the sneaker brands are fabricated in the same factories! Ha, and the same goes for the well known label sunglasses the price depends how high end the label is. Don’t shoot me, I’m only the messenger with real passion for the fashion craftsmanship.

The world lives too much on the fast lane to take time for education and really understand why and what they get educated about. I honestly started studying the art of insoles more than anything else…
