Despite of it not being women’s career of choice, computer engineer Barbie was voted by Barbie fans all over the world as Barbie’s next career (I wonder what was the men voters percentage).
Forbes recently indicated that female engineers count as low as 12% of (all fields) engineers, despite of this being a very well paid job, in comparison with what women classically choose as a career. Maybe it’s because of that that Barbie takes a stand and encourages girls to believe that le Geek is Chic. (honestly, can you stand there and tell me a leggings-wearing engineer is an everyday life fact? It’s like having Lindsay Lohan fixing your computer!) (the story continues right after the jump!)
There’s more than just the Computer Engineer Barbie, though! The people of the world voted Barbie’s 125th and 126th career. So what’s next for blond bombshell Barbie? News Anchor, that’s what! So I guess Mattel though of everything: both the shallow and the geek consumers out there (minus the wardrobe. Hopefully some good sensed designer will take care of that too). Both items are available for preorder at $12,99 each. (Barbie via tDW)

I like computer science Barbie but I think that news anchor Barbie should have been more of a field report like the stellar Christiane Amanpour. She is a great role model and Barbie should have followed her look rather than looking like Mary Hart from Entertainment Tonight. :P
