Would You Fancy McFancy?

Trying too hard to blend fashion and food, McFancy is all smoke and mirrors. Just because you’ll take your ordinary rat and put it in a golden cage doesn’t necessarily make him a chinchilla. Except in the fashion industry. There it’s all about pretending.

Pretend the most and you shall have the spotlight! McFancy is a daring concept brought to us by Access Agency, specialized in helping brands in being different. (the story continues right after the jump, don’t miss the rest of the McFancy images!)

McFancy Burberry Burger

If McFancy sounds somewhat familiar to you, it must be because of that special particle we practically grew up with: Mc. Yes, that stands for McDonals. McFancy is just a fancy invention for the same ol’McDonalds! The very essence of our brand blinded generation lies within these rebranded packaging samples!

McDonalds’ McFancy is an artsy installation (read the same McDonalds fast food restaurant only with design furniture and complicated architecture) offering the same fries and burgers menu only with a couture label on. And make no mistake about it, the Burberry burgers and the Gucci fries taste just like ordinary burger and fries, it’s all in the calories, not the label.

McFancy Paul Smith Sundae

Undoubtedly this pretty concept will seduce the fashion world beyond its trademark anorexia! Beyond any reasonable doubt, this is the gathering place for fashion people who’ll talk about Marc Jacobs’ latest collection while sipping on a cup of LVCola and tasting a crunchy Versace Apple Pie. I’ll have a Geevencheee Salad, please! Would you fancy a McFancy bite? (tCH)

This is a very fun and fascinating art exhibit. The premise of fast food being presented as fast fashion which in a sense all of the above labels and design house are to a degree (How quickly does one “must have” item, trend or “blue is the new black” turn over in the world of fashion? what with the need for the seasonal shows that tell us that knee high boots are no longer “in”?). This is most fun and intriguing. I love the composition and the exposition of it! : )

Ellington, I love, love your comment. :) I agree and I could never ever write such a comment.
I really hope I live long enough to learn how the future shall look back at this decade.

Kpriss, great post I print this out for my my pin board. :)

That’s a specialist talking! Indeed it’s an interesting concept and fascinating due to the fashionable brands metaphor and fast food mentality. I haven’t thought about that from this perspective, thank you, Ellington!
