Charlotte Gainsbourg was named the Best Actress for her special performance in Antichrist! She received the Palme D’Or at this Cannes 2009!
Her modest, charming self was heavily disadvantaged by the illfitted studded black dress which she honorably saved by wearing the Balenciaga sandals. Her Red Carpet appearance doesn’t help the movie’s fate: Antichrist divided the audience but still conquered the Palme D’Or Cannes 2009 for good Charlotte. Getting back to the dress: what is she wearing, anyway? (you can see the complete list with the Cannes 2009 winners here) (photos via)

Earlier she showed up in denim with a white T-shirt and just brown boots. Fashionistas were in shock! I hope they’ve recovered now the poor things. I loved it!
It works the other way around here she gave me a good reason a.o. things to get myself over my aversion and going to watch that movie. After all I love Lars von Trier. I love her too. Great actress.
I’m surprised The Antichrist won. Could it be Isabelle Hupert is Michael Haneke still grateful for her price for her part in La Pianiste? Anyway I’ve enjoyed a week Cannes my way a lot.
But it’s about Charlotte’s look and I like it because I like her. So refreshing this 37/38 (?) year old woman. [Good] Charlotte made La Jolie look like mommie dearest with her waxed face and attention seeking behaviour. Ugh……
Good for her! I am not too sure that I am fond of the dress she is wearing though.
(the dress is Balenciaga too, a shorter version of the catwalk model)
I’m still vacillating whether to see Antichrist or not. I’m really not a fan of horror/suspense movies so I tend towards no. But then again, the controversy (and the cast and my Adored Husband who loves the thrills of a good horror) could convince me otherwise!
I love good horror/suspense. I’ve been even to horror festivals. Great fun.
But von Trier’s “therapy for his depression” seems somewhat different from horror/suspense to me.
I like Charlotte’s shoes a lot btw.
