Kraftwerk The Model

It’s been on my mind so long: Kraftwerk The Model is something you should mos def add to your playlist if you haven’t already!

And it’s not because it’s all rooting back to the 80s that you should go for Kraftwerk but because The Model will never change. You can listen to it now and still have the feeling it was written and performed yesterday! Enjoy this retro-electronic Friday Break! (more about the song after the jump!)

The original version first appeared in German, in 1978. Das Model was released on The Man-Machine album from Kraftwerk. An English version was also released in 1981, along with Computer Love and re-released in 1982 when the single was voted no.1 in British single charts.

Covered by so many artists, so many times, Kraftwerk’s The Model remains one of the ever-fashionable power plays. It’s also notable that the Germans from Kraftwerk praised machines, computers and so on and this would be their only song about a human being. A model. Should we jump to conclusions? (if you wish, the original Kraftwerk in German: Das Model is also available)

Great choice Kpriss!

Haha, Teutonic tunes! We Dutch loves to poke fun (sometimes real mean) about our neighbours.

I love the video, the models and their clothes. The way they’d pose….
But Teutonic or not Kraftwerk are the Godfathers of electronic music. Very ein, zwei, drei this one but great.
I’d miss the days MTV has its “classic” hour. Where they showed those great music videos.
