Clearly one of the most expected shows of all and any fashion seasons, Victoria’s Secret 2013 Fashion Show happened last night, on November 13, 2013.

The doors opened at 7pm at 69th Regiment Armory while the show started one hour later while the after-party was held at Tao Downtown. Victoria’s Secret Angels strutted their wings on the catwalk next to special musical guests, smiling, waving, blowing kisses and blowing minds. Let’s see the facts and the looks:

{1} Victoria’s Secret’s 2013 Show is their 12th televised show

this is the 28th year since the first Victoria’s Secret show was opened by Stephanie Seymour and the 12th year since the first Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was broadcast on television.

{2} Show costs Millions

while promoting the fun and the flirty lingerie and also embarking some of the most successful entertainers of the moment may seem like a (cat)walk in the park, it’s actually quite the contrary. The total budget for this year’s event was $12 Million, 100 times more than the brand’s first fashion show, back in 1995.

{3} Ticket price is over $14,000

ranging from a minimum $14,000 to whatever they snag at a public auction where they are made available for charity purposes (and yes, it’s totally comparable to a ticket to the Metropolitan Museum of Art Gala which costs $25,000, one of the tickets for Victoria’s Secret 2013 Fashion Show was auctioned off for the same price).

this year is the first time since 2005 when a Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bra makes it to the $10Million price tag, also marking the 4th Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bra worth $10,000,000 (Candice Swanepoel was the one wearing the Royal Fantasy Bra this year).

{6} Models ethnicity unrealistic representation

of the 40 models, only 3 models are Asian and 7 models are black. That totals 25% non-white models off the entire cast walking Victoria’s Secret 2013 Fashion Show.

(fiy, the global number of Caucasians – including Asians – indicates a 51% from the world’s population so if we’re to compare the reality of counting 49% black people in the world’s population and counting 17,5% black models on Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, we get an unfair representation of the world’s population in world’s most popular Fashion Show).

{7} Famous performers

surprisingly announced just a couple of days ago, Taylor Swift was one of the artists invited to join the models on the catwalk and sing their most notable songs. Taylor wore two outfits during her performance. A Great Big World, Fall Out Boy and Neon Jungle were this year’s entertainers also.

{8} Fantastic segments

as hinted from the announcement of this year’s Fantasy Bra, the show opened with a British them ‘British Invasion’. Followed by a second segment ‘Birds of Paradise’, the show also included a ‘Shipwrecked’ segment just before the ‘Pink Network’ moment. ‘Eiffel Tower’ came next and the show wrapped up with a final ‘Snow Angels’ segment and Taylor Swift closing.

{9} Broadcast date in December

although it happened last night, November 13th, the show was only recorded and will enter the montage room to be prepped for Television. On December 10th 2013, Victoria’s Secret 2013 Fashion Show will air on CBS at 10/9c.

{10} Veteran model walked 13 shows

Adriana Lima, who walked her 13th show for Victoria’s Secret wore three outfits, same as Alessandra Ambrosio or Karlie Kloss. The only difference is that while the others only wore a maximum of 2 pairs of wings, Adriana had wings for each of her looks. Taylor Swift’s friend, Lily Aldridge also wore three outfits. In comparison, nearly half of the models (17) only wore one outfit during the entire show.

{11} 70 Looks, 30 pairs of wings

the 40 models who walked this year’s show wore a total of 70 looks among which only 30 were accessorized with the famous Victoria’s Secret Angel Wings. Each of the looks put together by the creative team designing Victoria’s Secret lingerie was amazing and unique.
