If an entire month of graphic prints and black and white monotony on the catwalk is getting to you, stop for a moment to breathe the beautiful neutrals in Chloe Spring Summer 2014 collection!
Lovely pleats and bright printed creases, it was a contrasting collection. The loose fabrics and the fluttering sleeves and hems look pretty tight because of all the narrow pleated and creased clothes. A natural looseness and softness of the styling process made all the clothes look good in movement. Which, again, is one of the principles followed by fashion designers for their Spring Summer 2014 collection.
Looking down, to their pretty little toes, I’d say Chloe was after simplicity and comfort. Something that would help you pretty ladies move around with ease and grace, forgetting about the stiletto struggles.
Wedges, flatforms, crisscrossed wide straps and breathable canvas. The silhouettes of the new Chloe spring shoes, although bulky, matched the collection and the utilitarian footwear spirit haunting the SS14 Fashion Week presentations.
Softly arched over a natural cork wedge structured platform, the new Chloe sandals featured a distinct metal detail right below the heel sole’s level. That’s pretty much where the simplicity theory ends and a new one, highly oriented on unexpected care for details and subtle luxury begins to take over.
And that philosophy masters all the Chloe handbags I’d like to highlight for a moment: really practical, conceived for the active woman, the new Chloe SS14 bags were discrete but lovely, pretty but perfectly versatile.
Leather or canvas, big or small, there was something for every taste and daily routine on the Paris Fashion Week runway in Chloe’s presentation. I loved the exposed zipper closure that opened both ways – it shows that it was designed by someone who knows what it’s like to reach in a hurry for something that’s lost on the bottom of a full bag.
I also loved the way the hangers and the crossbody strap’s ends covered the brass hardware.
… but I loved the small messenger bags more! Because you could clearly turn them into clutches and also because, like contrasting with their small size, they were considerably richer in details and accessories than their tote-sisters.
It’s amazing how the excitement of the FW season debut fuels and motivates my inner fashionista which, halfway through the fashion weeks is in massive need of a double espresso! But most of all, the nostalgia of the last fashion week days is overwhelmingly endearing and turns me into a supremely indulging fashion individual, drooling and daydreaming about everything and anything that walks down that runway! Do you experience the same transition? (images courtesy styledotcom)
