Watching the 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards Red Carpet was a little like staring at rainbows. There was certainly no dull choice among the jewel-toned gowns of the ladies attending TV’s biggest night!
Although it was really hard to pick a favorite, I would say that my personal tastes were inclined towards picking Jessica Pare who wore a lovely turquoise Oscar de la Renta dress as one of the most fashionable of the night. Especially since the gown was hot off the catwalk, part of the Spring Summer 2014 collection that was shown just a little over a week ago in New York. That’s fresh fashion indeed! Closely behind Jessica Pare’s OdlR gown, in my top of preferences, I’d like you to admire (after the jump) the ever-flawless Heidi Klum in skin-tight Versace!
The burgundy Atelier Versace gown was a perfect fit for Heidi Klum who took home an Emmy Award for best host of her Project Runway TV show (next to co-host Tim Gunn, biensur).
But have you seen Anna Faris and her bright yellow Monique Lhuillier dress? It looks like the sun is walking on the 65th Emmy Awards Red Carpet! Really a bold choice, but Anna wore it well, keeping it tamed with little accessory and simple makeup&hair.
I’d like you to notice that among the jeweled toned dresses, there was a noticeable high concentration of red-purple and red-hued gowns. We already saw Heidi above in burgundy, here’s Michelle Dockery in Prada (I just love the back of her dress with that neck folded bow! Perfection!) and next Linda Cardellini in purple dress by Donna Karan, Carrie Underwood in a purple dress by Romona Keveza, Alyson Hannigan in purple strapless Marchesa dress or Mindy Kaling in a plum dress by Edition by Georges Chakra.
Wait, there were even more purple&purple-like dresses at the Emmy Awards: Thea Andrews, Melissa Rauch, Allison Janney they all walked on a purplicious ray of the rainbow for the 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards!
Oh, and did I mention red? I did, good! There were some really daring, pretty ladies wearing red gowns tonight! The gorgeous Sofia Vergara in a curve hugging Vera Wang dress, Kelly Osbourne in classic Jenny Packham (matching her geometrical tipped French nails to her dress, like always).
Pregnant Morena Baccarin looked all radiant in her red strapless dress and Brooke Anderson also showed a red dress, from Roland Mouret, to fancy-dress her pregnant silhouette while Carla Cugino went for a more daring cut of a classic red dress. Jon Hamm’s Jennifer Westweld was also dressed in red and does maroon fall into the same red-hued category? For there’s where I’d like to note Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco as well!
Peach & salmon dresses also fall into the red-hued category, so before I moved further, let’s see who was peachy tonight! Laura Dern, Ariel Winter, Rose Byrne, Alfre Woodard. Even softer tones on January Jones, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Carrie Preston and Cobie Smulders.
One of my favorite was, of course, Claire Danes (in Armani Prive) while Julie Bowen was all effervescent in a classic Zac Posen dress.
A special mention for Anna Gunn whose Romona Keveza dress looked fabulous on her! Zosia Mamet’s Honor dress looked really special and there wasn’t much print on tonight’s Red Carpet, so she really stands out!
Lena Dunham’s flowery Prada dress and Kerman Shipka’s Delpozo dress brought another charming detail with flowers appliqué, the same details that were visible on Julianna Margulies’ Reed Krakoff white gown with dramatic black leaves and Kerry Washington’s perfectly romantic Marchesa dress (you’ll see her scrolling down, in the white dresses section)!
Now let’s see who was wearing blue and green: Zooey Deschanel was, as expected, wearing a blue retro dress from J. Mendel completed with domino black and white nails. Maria Menounous, Giuliana Rancic, Rosci Diaz, Allison Williams, Carrie Ann Inaba were all lovely in blue dresses.
Sarah Hyland’s Carolina Herrera emerald dress was timelessly beautiful while Mayim Bialik’s emerald green dress, although a classic, could’ve been so much better!
Next to the simple black and/or white dresses: from Vera Farmiga’s absolutely gorgeous Theyskens Theory gown to Jane Lynch’s black pantsuit, gorgeous ladies safely went for black dresses at the TV’s special night: Amy Poehler, Morgan Saylor, Amanda Peet, Aubrey Plaza, Lena Headey, Sarah Silverman and Christina Hendricks.
Passing through the inevitable shades of grey on Emily Deschanel, Gia Coppola and Kristen Connolly, here we are, finally at the white dresses. Kate Mara showed serious leg in a white J. Mendel dress, much like Lily Rabe in Vionnet. Malin Akermann, Sandrine Holt and Taylor Schilling kept it classic and safe.
I’m certain there were even more dresses in attendance that were worth mentioning so if you have any suggestions, let’s add it to the story! (images courtesy getty, styledotcom)

My absolute favourite is Anna Gunn. No one here can beat her. What a lovely, elegant woman. So natural stylish, not “dressed up” as the lot of them. Bravo!
I also love her Emmy Award especially since I read all the hate all over the internet against her character Skyler White. The way she reacted was brilliant.
