A while back I found out about Helena Christensen collaborating with Kipling for a collection of luggage and large bags. Before getting to further investigate the bag matter, I caught word about yet another impressive collaboration Helena is involved in this fall: the Pirelli calendar!
Like always, the Pirelli Calendar is all about gorgeous models month after month. This year, however, is pretty special as the calendar in question is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Gathering the world’s most impressive models was de rigueur and keeping an aura of mystery around the shooting and the photographer is also part of the marketing strategy of this oh-so-special edition.

Back to Kipling, as I said I was going to dedicate time and space to this story ever since it was first signaled on wwd. Among my favorite European daily bag styles, Kipling and Mandarina Duck have stuck with me from my teen years as I was flipping through fashion magazines and spotted their easy&attractive designs. Essentially using lightweight materials such as nylon, the Belgian brand Kipling which has the famously associated monkey logo, has recently expanded into the U.S.
Their change of vision and commercial approach has granted them a steady 20% growth annually and initiatives such as partnering up with Helena Christensen will only ensure their continually market success. Addressing the active woman who is putting practicality on the same page as stylish and fashionable, Kipling has updated their offer with a more trend-appealing design through their Fall 2013 collection. Leather and Helena’s favorite prints make her collection a rather interesting bag choice for the upcoming season. Prices for her range go up from $109, a bit more expensive than the usual offering from Kipling’s products portfolio.
However, the looks are simple, the lines are classic and versatile, so there’s pretty much nothing to hold you back from trying Helena Christensen’s Kipling bags upon their September release. Next stop: her Pirelli calendar, biensur (in November)!
