I realize this title sounds a lot like Punch Drunk Love. Or at least in my head it does. But looking through Karl Lagerfeld’s 80 looks for the Chanel Fall 2013 Collection, I started to feel the subject of a prank. A clever fashion prank pulled by the catwalk’s Kaiser. I felt punk’d.
Because the fashion population refused to believe in Hedi Slimane’s Saint Laurent grunge fashion show, feeling there had to be more to fashion than what he sent down the runway. Now, after seeing Chanel’s Fall 2013 collection, I wonder, are they still in denial?
Karl Lagerfeld ditched his usually extravagant sets and decors and planted a dark globe pinned with little black Chanel flags around which his 80 models walked forth and back wearing some pretty down – to – street kind of fashion. Sure there were some extravagances here and there, but overall, the masters of fashion seem to be turning to the street for inspiration, with a turn in the vintage trunk to spice things up!
The most notable innovation was the glitter eyes makeup. Huge silver glitter particles glued onto the eyelid and the upper lashes. Easy to replicate, impressive beauty effect.
But the collection was rather disappointing, as usual with the latest Chanel collections. Lagerfeld should really learn how to edit his work and sift through the designs. Get rid of the hideous and only release the best. Compared to this, Slimane’s show was a work of art. No sloppy, unwearable outrageousness belonging more in a callgirl’s wardrobe than on the high fashion catwalk!
Of course, reviews are pending for the moment but I’m guessing everyone will just drool all over this collection, as it is mandatory unless you’d want to find your pretty fashion derriere expelled from the front row class! I’ve got nothing holding me back: I only have my freedom of mind and spirit and the comfort of my own happy, simple home&family!

But , but , but …. Chanel is selling 2,5- 3,0 BILLION dollars per YEAR ,only in fashion!
sure is it! But that doesn’t mean I have to pretend I like everything under the glorious interlocked label. I’m a fashion snob in my own way, lolz!
It was rethorical . I didnt like it either. I am in disbelief with those numbers.
(sigh with relief :) )
I think I still favor London Fashion Week .. Paris is getting weird!
I do like the pleated grey skirt with the grey tweed coat and the long legging/shoes. Other than that meh.
: )
Individually there are several good looking pieces.
The full look and the silhouette are horrid.
… and to think this was the celebratory collection that marked a century of Chanel boutiques! pfff!
