Lana del Rey on the cover of Vogue UK March 2012 under the tagline “The Fascinating…”. Pink and Lana never paired in my head so it’s a first for me, not to mention for Lana, who’s a Vogue covergirl for the first time in her life – maybe not her last? Anyway, that rules out a Vogue US cover, huh?
Mario Testino’s pictures of Lana from the inside pictorial caught the essence of Lana Del Rey way better than the cover photo (check them out after the jump). It’s like they were from two different photo sessions. It’s a mediocre Vogue, so, hopefully, for those who’ll buy the print magazine, the inside content will prove way more interesting than the cover!
Vogue aside, how do you feel about Lana’s music? (I’m loving her self described style: “gangsta Nancy Sinatra” – she’s the very product of today’s fashion web – styled generation!)

Go to YouTube and find the real Lizzy Grant and spot the differences. She’s still there. I won’t be surprised if it’s going to be removed since the hype has become that huge. Lana/Lizzy also landed a model contract at Next Management.
Even Video Games is stolen? Listen to this Greek song from 1992 by Eleni Vitali here.
I still believe Lana/Lizzy is a talented girl. Such a shame she’s so manufactured and didn’t find a bigger audience as herself. What has happen to music? What’s happen to fashion? :((
yeah, what happened to Lizzy? She’s hidden deep under those heavily injected lips and layer of wrinkles filler and whatnot. Yes, the voice is there, but she lost her originality – thank you for pointing out the similarities with that Greek song! It’s amazing! And no, I think it’s not a coincidence!
Here in the Netherlands she was already known last Autumn and also on tv. Her first Dutch concert in Amsterdam’s Paradiso was early November. A short gig though due to less material.
Lana/Lizzy has a rich dad who bought her new image.
Glad you agree Kpriss. You know how I love music and all I see there is a Barbie with lots of fake but also hidden talent…real original talent which has disappeared. Plus she was a pretty girl herself!!
The Greek song is amazing. I began to like it more and more listening to it. I have a better translation than the one on YouTube. A sweet Greek friend, very well educated and trilingual (no; four but what’s the word?) made another translation for me and he didn’t know this fact :)
No way Nancy Sinatra; I adore her! Especially together with Lee Hazlewood :)
Well, yes, she had another style… and it didn´t work. so what?? should she just bury her talent because the market did not like what she offered? Then Madonna would be dead decades ago…what is the problem with reinventing yourself(pun intended!)?
Also,IMHO, bodysnarking is not nice. Most of the female artists out there have something done.
ana, the sad point is that female singer/performers need that these days…Madonna had no work done in her early days.
Another sad point is IMO she did not re-invent herself but marketeers did. At least Madonna did it herself; she chose the right participants to help her out and not her rich dad to pay for her ;)
A fabulous nobody! This proves once again that a Vogue cover is so worthless in 2012!
Lana postponed her tour. Although she did a mini tour last Autumn. The girl can’t handle the criticism. It´s all too soon, too much and too fast…
I wonder if Cherlyn Sarkisian ,aka, CHER, has suffered such type of criticism at the early stages of her career for changing her name, face and musical style .
That’s a good one. Chapeau ana !!
But she has, oh yes! LOL! I like the original better than the one she has become to be honest. My fave Cher film is “Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean” (1982). Try to see that one and then start again about Cherilyn Sarkisian LaPiere and “the early stage” of her career ana.
Cher became famous with her own nose and her own teeth before she chose to change. Her name is still her own name.
Cherilyn to Cher? Sounds very valid. Plus a lot of these new build stars miss an essential thing Cher has: a great sense of humour. That’s the point. Well, that’s point to me.
