Sofia Coppola, The Bride, Wore A Lavender Azzedine Alaia Wedding Dress

If inspiration for a summer wedding is what you’re looking for, you should consider the following! Sofia Coppola got married over the weekend in Italy to her longtime rocker boyfriend Thomas Mars, the Phoenix frontman. Congrats to the happy couple, now let’s get on to the style business! (wink)

Sofia Coppola, the Bride, was all dreamy gorgeous in a lavender wedding gown designed by Azzedine Alaia especially for the occasion. I know the bridal trend is white right now, and all brides dream of wearing long white veils, but isn’t Sofia spectacularly stylish, particularly charming and, above all, adorably happy? Now – how about the wedding dress? (AP via)

I love her choice to wed in a dress like this. It is lovely. Typical Sophia :)

I read her girls are named Romy and Cosima. Romy (Schneider) is a late beautiful actress I love. Is she a fan too? Romy was also a Chanel muse. Sofia worked as trainee for Chanel. Luchino Visconti introduced Romy to Chanel. In his beautiful film “Ludwig” (about the mad, sad King of Bavaria) plays beautiful Sylvana Mangano the part of Cosima Von Buelow, Wagner’s wife. Ludwig was a great Wagner admirer. Cosima is a an Italian name of course as her family is. But as well Romy as Sylvana played parts in “Ludwig”. Now I wonder is Sofia a Visconti fan? I would not be surprised she’s a fan too. That has crossed my mind….and when I read her daughters names….:)
It took me more time to type this than to come up with this thought. I am also a fan of Sofia; she is so mega talented. I am curious to see her last film “Somewhere”.

She looks lovely! : )
And since this her second wedding (marriage) maybe she did the traditional thing of not wearing white?

Very pretty, but it doesn’t scream bridal to me, and it certainly doesn’t scream Alaia, which is usually much more body con.

No, not very “bridal” indeed – but very beautiful – and not a classical Alaia – that I loved. I couldn’t see Sofia wearing some glove dress… This suits her, it’s magical!

Riana, you’re right with all those Visconti references – I have something about Sofia, maybe I’ll write it today? About her house.. ;)

Ellington – I’m sure she wanted something discrete and romantic. And, in my opinion, she was ethereal!
