It’s that time of the week again: Friday, baby! Freeeeaiday! I’d like to take this opportunity to invite you to step back and enjoy this cover. Mr and Mrs David Bowie!
There’s just something about them that’s unreservedly cool, implacably fashionable and utterly adorable. Something that makes any and all additional comment useless and small. Le me just give you a taste of the interview right after the jump! And believe me, you don’t want to miss it! (did you know that David has an estranged sister who is also named Iman? Technically re-baptized Iman when she became a Muslim, but Iman nevertheless.):
“I am NOT married to David Bowie. No, no, I don’t even know him. I am married to David Jones. They are two totally different people. […] Twenty years and counting. We’re just a regular old married couple. […] I am 55 now. I’ve always had low self – esteem because I come from a country where women are very beautiful – nobody ever told me that I was even pretty when I was growing up. […] I did not want to get involved with a rock star. No way. It is not a sane thing to do. […] David loves nothing better than to read the British papers every morning and listen to the BBC. […] Occasionally someone will come up to me and say: “You look just like Iman” and I say “I am Iman” But Usually I’m just Lexi’s mom or David’s wife. And I’m fine with that. I know who I am – I don’t need anyone else to tell me.”

As it seems David don’t want to do another album anymore. He’s done as I read somewhere. I understand it.
He has a heart condition, that’s why he’s taking things slower lately. And by heart condition I mean he had surgery and all…
Kpriss: I know that of course but didn’t want to mention it. I am a fan. But I can imagine he has enough the circus. The music scene has changed a lot too ;) :)
Another hero of mine lives since 10 year with a defibrillator due to heart failure because of that lifestyle. Still jumps around on stage as ever. Hopes to God he’s able to stay sober. It’s Slash whose mother used to design outfits for David.
Of course you did! Silly me! :* sorry, I’m not a fan, so when I found out about his surgery, I was like “oh wow! so something did went wrong after all those wild, wild years!”
Slash, you say? wow again! And his mom designed for Bowie? I’m amazed! I had absolutely no idea!
Yes, she did for other rock stars as well. Slash’s father designed album covers :)
So Slash came from a very artsy family! And he’s back on track now, as I’ve heard…
Slash is despite his wild life just as David one of the good guys. Always friendly even when he was drugged out. And felt uncomfortable with Axl’s antics. Involved in lots of good causes for young people these days. Warning his fans: don’t do as I did.
Fun anecdote is: his mom and David Geffen were friends. So David asked his mother: “Hows your son doing these days” and his mom very surprised: “But you signed his band Guns n’ Roses!” LOL! Typical Slash; love him and his guitar :)
