Since the first second I laid my eyes on Blake Lively and her gown for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute 2011 Gala I felt the itchy need to talk about it. I refused to put it first, though, because it’s not really my kind of gown, but now I just can’t hold it any longer:
Blake Lively in gray sparkling Chanel Couture Fall 2009. With Karl Lagerfeld at her side, Blake was radiant and redheaded. The hair color is for a movie role and the dress is for McQueen. Or so they say. Although, from the two, I’m guessing that Karl alone answered to the Savage Beauty call to honor Alexander McQueen. What say you? (photos via 1, 2)

Gorgeous dress but not on her. Or not with the red hair and orange tan! Please respect the redhead look and keep the skin pale. That would do the dress more honour and probably herself too. Sorry, I don’t get the fuzz about this girl at all. Can’t help it….:(
That jacket Karl wears doesn’t match at all with her dress! What’s with the jacket? Noooo!
I don’t get the Blake appeal either! that’s why I kept silent about her fronting the Chanel campaign. Is so… beyond me, truly, what she’s holding for the fashion people that magnetizes them all!
Karl’s crazy jacket was as savage as he could get for the occasion, I guess ;)
Seems it’s Anna’s new muse? The all American girl?
American a’it.. but what’s it so fashionable about her?
The dress reminds me of a combination of a greek chiton and a sari, but I too am not overly fond of it.
Blake is on gossip girl and is apparently the latest “it” girl, why, I know not, but she is attractive though. I do like the colour of her hair but you are right ajginger she should not be so tanned with that hair colour.
I have to admit, I do love Blake Livley a little. And I do think this dress could have been a hit, even with the red hair, if her skin wasent so orange. Its like, her skin tone is clashing with the dress and the hair.
Ellington (fashion) spot on! It’s exactly what it is – a hybrid between a Greek chiton and a sari!
both you and MarieSali are sooo right about the skin tone! And as much as I like a good tan in summer, I always ask myself (yes, beyond the health dangers) if it wouldn’t be better with no tan at all… How about you? Tan or no tan?
Ahem…..I replied yet on her tan ;)
