Usually we have the handy, hardworking Photoshop people taking care of that. But Candice Swanepoel decided to make it easier for them: she took the waist matter into her own hands and provided us with a sight we didn’t really need in the first place.
The lovely Candice swears, however, that it’s all natural and that she’s healthy and feeling great, even if her physical appearance screams different. Have it your way, Candice, but I pledge with the Victoria’s Secret people to keep you out of the swimsuits! And lingerie! Please put some clothes on and consider a modeling job with Ralph Lauren! He will greatly appreciate your new body!

Why? just because she’s skinnier can’t do lingerie (swimsuits) ads? Wasn’t Chanel Iman that thin when she started modeling VS?
She doesn’t look ill, just look at her, I assure you that’s not how an anorexic/bulimic body is.
I truly don’t know who was that girl before I saw your post, but I found pretty unfair and despective what you said.
Nowadays seems that if you don’t have a “real women’s body” (as in Dove ads)most people think that you are an anorexic bi*ch who only cares about herself, but sometimes you can’t help it, it’s how your metabolism.
Excuse my English please, it has passed a long time since the last time I used it for writting an opinion.
in this particular picture her waist looks weird. I think they photoCHOPPED her a bit here.
I saw other pics from the same shooting and she looks normal there. she looks healthy for me also.
but well, I love skinny girls…
I just read Victoria Secret has a new curvier and mediocre blond model; Kate Upton. The same article published this photo of three VS Angels; Adriana, Candice and Allessandra.
mdinah, seriously I doubt the photoshop look at the photo after I saw this photo. I thought the same thing you see.
OMFG!! but how is possible to have a waist smaller than your head?
Heads don’t shrink?? They should CHOP her head too! LOL, noticed that to late :D
s and mdinah, I’m sorry if I came across a bit too judgmental, but the picture that shocked me was the one that Ajginger included in her comment. And that’s why I decided to talk about Candice’s weight. I’m pretty skinny myself so I would most certainly not be the one to cast the stone. However, I didn’t want it to look so drastic and I went for another image with my article. Because I didn’t wanted to scare people off …
Kpriss, we often talked about us being skinny. But I’m not that skinny. I also don’t look ill….strangely enough…..We are natural skinny. I tell it again: it runs in my family. It’s DNA nothing else.
You do realize that we sound just like those models who swear on good genes? Yet Candice looks worryingly thin, I wonder if upon seeing the image you back linked in your comment s. changed her mind (like mdinah) and saw why it felt alarming for me in the first place…
I do. But it’s the truth. She look scary, I don’t and so don’t you. I rather call myself slim or slender? Is that better?
As for Candice; truth has to be told!
I did, but I’ haven’t got time to reply since now.
I had seen in other blogs the pictures of this girl and it doesn’t look that bad but this photo is really scary, her head looks bigger because the perspective (as Alessandra’s) but it doesn’t change that her hips and her legs look so thin.
I must apologize for my comment, I think I express myself quite rude; but I’m very sensitive about this kind of comments. Many people around me, even my friends or family, have said at least once a nasty comment about my phisic (I’m not only skinny, also petite) and it doesn’t feel good, so when I read the two last sentences of your post I turned on.
Slender. Yes, that’s the good word for my type. Or yours (I believe).
s. you don’t need to apologize, it’s what you felt at that moment, so did I – I was expressing my own feelings, there’s nothing wrong with that! I loved that you were being authentic and spoke up, defending her! Sometimes, girls like that (and you know what I mean) are in denial and need a helping hand, someone to dissipate the fog away and allow them to see the truth about themselves. And Candice is worryingly thin. We do hope she’s healthy and feeling alright, and that all we see is just the result of a much too rapid metabolism!
Hey, I think candice looks fine… I mean to tell you the truth, I have a super tiny waist too and I eat alot. Therefore, It is just how my body looks. I cant change it and it is not like I starve myself to look that way. So, That is probably the same with Candice.
One word, high metabolism. Some people have it, some people dont. Period.
OK, may be she is a bit skinny, but is it a crime? Really, some people just have it! I am skinny too and I wasted years in the gym to put on some weight. Do you want to know the truth? I felt so much better when I was skinnier, I feel the weight (though am still skinny according to most people) – I mean I am strong, but cardio is hard for me, walking long distance is so much harder… Because it is not my natural weight. And if telling somebody that he/she is fat is wrong, then telling somebody that he/she is skinny is wrong and rude too! And thin waist is God blessing, not something that should be repaired!
Thank you Nadia for being so honest and blunt about this matter. And you’re right, telling someone that he or she is skinny is rude as well, I know it from my own mother who keeps saying that I should put on some weight every time she sees me. Every time :)
I’m not a cardio person either and I don’t like running. I would rather dance as a workout or do yoga and or pilates. Something softer that implies stretching more than jump jacks ;)
