While we all look up to the First Lady for inspiration and style inspiration, she just confirmed that all our sneaky looks are completely justified by wearing a show stopping dress by Alexander McQueen from the Resort 2011 collection!
The one shouldered asymmetrical gorgeousness worn by Michelle Obama was occasioned by the state dinner with China’s President Hu Jintao. Undeniably a (lucky) liaison with wearing red for good luck in the Chinese culture, the dress looked impeccable on the First Lady and I couldn’t be more proud to see McQueen’s creation worn by such a fine, fierce woman!
The dress, though under the Alexander McQueen label has been designed by Sarah Burton in her first collection after the tragic death of the great Lee McQueen. Resort 2011 was indeed a collection infused with Asian inspiration and this red petal print silk organza gown stands proof for just that.
Although I’m uncertain about Michelle Obama pairing the dress with that mix print scarf (who signed that?), I completely trust her style call and embrace the outfit as, our dear friend Ellington puts it, stellar! What say you? (via 1, 2, 3)

Wow, she looks amazing!
I totally agree: stellar, amazing. Stylish couple too. :)
A beautiful dress! On a very stylish and attractive woman.
I like Michelle’s dress sense, she usually wears what looks good on her and she always looks fabu in her First Lady duties and President Obama looks stylin’ too! :)
I think that Sarah Burton is doing Lee McQueen proud! :)
Waouw. Our Queen, yes she’s more like a queen than a first lady, It’s like she grew like that, with style and class.
