Now this is something unexpected for a (fashion)magazine! Julianna Margulies covers W Magazine’s May 2010 issue and she’s looking wonderful while doing it!
Sure it would have been so beautiful seeing her without the Goes Glam title, but I’ll take the closest to perfection I can get. Looking that good, naturally, at 43 is a challenge not many famous people feel ready to take. Not to mention the usual joggling with family and career. It’s a beautiful pictorial and a relaxed interview. (you can read it here) What more to ask from a spring-ish magazine? (don’t miss the rest of the images right after the jump!)

It is a shame to think there’s a limit to what we can wear at a particular age and there will always be a few misguided ladies who think there aren’t any limits… but really, bodysuits (in ANIMAL PRINT!!!! SO AGING!!!) at 40 years old is not a smart move. It’s a sad fact but not many people want to see every fold and crease in a woman’s form during the autumn years. I see the logic in this. At this age a woman should not be relying on her physical sexuality to attract the opposite sex anymore – that’s for the young ‘uns who lack the greater depths of wisdom, intelligence and elegance that age and experience bring. If you’ve still got it, ladies, you shouldn’t have to flaunt it! What’s to prove?
(‘autumn years’ was probably too extreme a phrase)
In this comment I’m also ignoring cosmetically enhanced women – they’ve made it obvious they can’t age gracefully and have thrown the towel in. Their stretched skin doesn’t fool anybody.
it’s a visual trap, a very unhappy trompe l’oeuil effect: on the cover, Julianna is actually wearing a dress. And what you think it’s the background, it’s one of her legs.
However, the print, as bold and tacky as it may be (and so over-fashioned) looks good on Julianna, kind of matches her unusual, rough aesthetic. As for surgically enhanced women: just because there’s this possibility, it doesn’t mean they all have to grasp it firmly to madness (have you seen Heidi Pratt’s latest body? it makes Pam Anderson look like an innocent baby). This pictorial looks less aggressive in flirting and more affirming in well-being and confidence. At least in my opinion.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat??? Are you kidding me? Have you gone mad or something? I believe we are seriously in need for new women liberation! This is so mid-ages. I’m really mad here. Lots of younger people have great depth, wisdom, intelligence and elegance. It depends on the person not the age. Feeling your sexuality is for all ages (when you’ve grown up). So why not use it when you feel up to do it? My good God……pffff……
Thanks for posting this. I really like Julianna. I’m big fan of The Good Wife. Though I love the whole cast, it’s a great show.
For sure I’m gonna read the interview later on. And she looks great here. :)
I love Julianna and her Medusa curly hair! She is fabu! And she looks stellar! : )
And I think that if you can you should wear what you like.
Some “young” people should not be in half the stuff they parade around in, and just because they are young it does not give them carte blanche!
In this I agree with Adriana: “It depends on the person not the age.”
No I’m sticking to my original point. We are each expressing our preferences here and I’ve expressed mine.
I don’t want to see an older woman flashing her skin because she ‘thinks’ she can. Middle ages thinking – perhaps – I am rather conservative when it comes to baring skin, myself. I think if you’ve got a beautiful body other people can usually tell – you don’t need to spill your cleavage in front of them to prove it.
People’s perception of what they ‘can’ wear will be different to what someone else thinks that person ‘can’ wear. So the phrase “If you can you should wear what you like’ just doesn’t hold any water.
by ‘middle ages’ I mean medieval times not middle age
Okay! Each to their own but I’ve smooth stretched chest and I show it off until it’s first wrinkle appears or it’s less stretched. No matter what age I will be. As Lauren Hutton who can show it off at 66!! :)
OK – sounds good :) you do that!
