Faithful to her body embracing gowns, Kate Winslet chose a silver number from Yves Saint Laurent at the 2010 Oscars last night. Truly severe lines and straight cuts, the frock seems like one of Yves Saint Laurent’s Stefano Pilati creations, though I find it hard to believe she didn’t had it all bent to her Winslet-ish style.
Especially since the color is easily set as a Fall 2010 YSL color, but the model can’t be pinned anywhere in the last six (and more!) seasons. However, it’s her established style and nothing feels offbeat in last night’s dress choice or hairdo: the side retro glamorous wave looks 100% Kate, doesn’t it? (not to mention that even for the 2009 Oscars she had a gown signed Yves Saint Laurent! it’s the traditional Oscar frock for Kate!) (click here for the gallery!) (photos via)

It’s 5pm in the Netherlands. I’m at my coffee after brunch because I watched the Oscars and fell asleep very, very early this morning and woke up tired but with a huge smile. It’s International Women Day: congratulations beautiful Katryn Bigelow! Yes, yes, yes!!! And I knew it and I believe this is the right winner and she made history: first female director who won an Oscar. She looked great too! Not here to view in her dress? No? I loved the way that woman looked! Power woman. Bravo!
But this is about my ultimo favourite dress of the night. How beautiful. I almost fainted when I saw it on the red carpet (Yes, I watched E! on the red carpet too:))) and twice again on stage. It’s just perfect. It looked better on tv. I’ve that often. See the ladies move and from different angles is far more interesting. Kate looks like Kate. It’s so her.
Plus I’m so done with all that big ball gowns……sorry ladies…..
Kate looks lovely. :)
Happy International Women’s Day to all my female friends!! :)
Kathryn Bigelow (sorry, I’m a fan of hers) won on International Women’s Day in my time zone at 6am. So that was very special.
Yes, Happy International Women’s Day to all women world wide, sad though we still need it or maybe even more! It shouldn’t be that way…….
Ah Kate! She looks like Hollywood royalty. All hail!
And yes – I am so happy Kath Bigelow has won the Director’s Oscar, thus making history. I can’t WAIT to see the film on a big screen. I noticed on wikipedia months ago about how The Hurt Locker was already one of the most awarded/accoladed films in cinematic history. Well done indeed to her and her cast and crew :)
The Hurt Locker was already available for only €10,– in the supermarket here in my country and perhaps even cheaper in some other stores! That will change now I guess……
You gotta see it on the big screen. It will get re-released here in the Southern Hemisphere, methinks. Most mainstream audiences missed it
