Isabeli Fontana’s Vogue Paris November 2009

I wonder if Carine is really thinking about fashion when she’s imagining her “fashion” editorials! If not long ago she went all diplomatic with Lara Stone and her black body paint, here she is, at it again, with Isabeli Fontana and a handful of (what better than) body painting!

Though I’m no stranger to tattoos and their way of being more or less meaningful, I can’t see the right in this pictorial. Though Carine hides behind the artsy reminder of Keith Haring’s iconic work, though I favor Isabeli on my top 10 preferred models, this Vogue Paris November 2009 keeps the controversy alive. (the story continues after the jump with more images!)

Of course it’s the fashion, lately, you’ll say, with all that Rodarte ink-catwalk-doing, I shouldn’t wonder why Carine did this to Isabeli. And still, I stubbornly look and raise my shoulders asking why, oh why must we trivialize on true cultural items instead of really creating with zero offending potential? Is Carine wearing the cosmopolitan jacket inside out? Is she walking on safe artsy ground by taking on an iconic artist and activist as Keith Haring? Does Isabeli really reminds you of Keith Haring? I see a mix of Keith Haring, punk magazines (the cover), the neck collars of the Thai longneck tribe, African body-paint and today’s “fashion tribe”. Very artsy.
It’s not for me, it’s for the people that are in awe with everything Carine does.

Exactly Adriana!
I did find though that the font used on the cover is very much like what Harper’s Bazaar (US) uses on their covers.

I really like the shoot here.
Kpriss, Isabeli is one of my favorite model too.
At first I saw the cover and I was like Rodarte!
