The Cult Painted On My Heart

I’ve been meaning to Friday Break this Cult piece for quite some time but every week I hesitated and chose another because I feared it would be too much for a Friday…

Today is different. I woke up and decided this should be it! The day I’ll delight you with a piece of The Cult: Painted On My Heart! (as you probably suspected, it’s a special song … for my Adored Husband!) Thank you for this wonderful week and for your lovely comments! I hope you’ll have the most amazing weekend, enjoy The Cult’s Painted on My Heart! (more information after the jump!)

The English rock band The Cult was founded in 1983 but got recognition on the American market only in the early 90s when alcohol and tensions were already breaking them up. Which eventually happened in 1995. The two most lasting members of the band, vocalist Ian Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy brought the band back together (with Matt Sorum and Martyn LeNoble) for two more albums (Beyond Good and Evil in 2003 and Born into This in 2007).

The Cult’s discography featured six previous albums to the ones released after the reunion: Dreamtime (1984), Love (1985), Electric (1987), Sonic Temple (1989), Ceremony (1991), The Cult (1994). Given that the band constantly changed members throughout its entire existence is now counting up to 23 former members. “Painted on my Heart” is part of Gone in 60 Seconds (the remake from 2000) original soundtrack and was written and produced in 1999 (even though I searched for it in The Cult’s discography, the song is not included in the band’s released albums/singles).

Great song, I love, love it. Of course this is mucis freak is busy surfin the web for info. Can still not find which album this is? I see Matt Sorum (after GnR for a while back to his old band) so that’s around 2000? I believe Martyn LeNoble (Martijn LeNoble) Dutch bass-player and the one that introduced Christine Applegate to her in-laws last week! Funny….gosh, and the one that refushed to Metallica’s offer to become a member!

Oh, it’s written for the soundtrack of the movie Gone in 60 seconds. Great song going to listen to it again. Great soundtrack too…

It’s so great to know you loved it! (I only updated with the info I had put together before seeing your comments) I see you didn’t found the album either, and if that’s true, that it was written exclusively for the movie, it explains why it’s only featured on the Original Soundtrack. Thanks so much for helping me out with the info !(I was in such a hurry to publish the Friday Break, I left the article infoless)

The song is composed for the soundtrack. Dutch bass player Martyn LeNoble has only played on a few tracks of the first reunion album. The band was still involved in drugs and drank problems. Matt Sorum left the band again and Martyn went to rehab for his drugs related problems. He’s clean and sober since and has worked with many US artists and is now happy with Christina Applegate. She didn’t had to figth alone during her breastcancer struggle. Speaking about love……

Yes I do love the Cult. I love “She sells Sanctuary” and “Love Removal Machine”. :)
