Marion Cotillard, Lady Dior And The Lady Noire Affair

Two short films for two major Couture Houses released the same month! We’re spoiled! Following Chanel’s No. 5 short film, now Dior’s Lady Noire Affair is aiming to take the Internet by storm with their Lady Noire Affair short film.

I may have fallen in love with Chanel’s 5, but there’s hardly any chance of getting that tangled up with Dior’s short film! I even got through the making of and despite of Marion Cotillard’s beautiful act, I can’t bring myself to understand, let alone enjoy this Lady Noire Affair! (the story continues after the short film, plus the making of the Lady Dior bag right after the jump!)

Cleverly integrated, the set of Marion’s first ad print campaign is easily recognized towards the end of the short film but even so, this Olivier Dahan’s Lady Noire Affair eludes me. There’s maybe something that could help us understand – the written note received by the Chef Reseau: I couldn’t understand the hand writing, can you see what’s written there? Maybe that’ll bring us some clue in Dior’s Lady Noire Affair, the vintage short-policier (click the image for a larger view). What’s your version? (you can watch the making of the short film on the official website, here)

Help! I need subtitles my French is not très bien!
I wonder why Dior make these bloody expensive commercials to promote their accessories?

(I’ve watched the Making of Coco Avant Chanel…..hmmm….cannot wait to see!
The US does only use subtitles for artsy movies? We have subtitles always. And no one wants to change that. The real voice of an actor is important for the acting. Also for anime I prefer the original version with the real voices and the subtitles. We can choose here. )

If I remember it correctly, the only French in the Dior ad video is the receptionist’s phrase (appx: Miss, someone left this package for you). As a side note – the Lady Noire is so mysterious and so Hitchcock, she’s completely deprived of basic polite education: shouldn’t she say at least thank you to the receptionist? enfin, the French! lol

All righty I have to say this: it was beautiful shot, I LOVED the handbag, the shoes and what she was wearing but it was far too cryptic and trying to be too clever for me to take it seriously.

Hides…..ouch…..that’s how this short movie did impress me I forgot (watched it late last night) that I thought it was ALL in French except for the receptionist….I love especially the suit (it was a suit right?) and further it’s looks beautiful but far too pretentious for my taste.
